A Visit to Huobi in Japan – No Office Found

Reason for this visit

With the booming cryptocurrency market in Japan, one of the largest market around the world, an increasing number of cryptocurrency exchanges have mushroomed recently. In order to help investors to get a more comprehensive understanding of the country's cryptocurrency exchanges, the survey team go to Japan for on-site visits.

On-site visit

In this issue, the investigation team went to Tokyo, Japan to visit the cryptocurrency exchange Huobi (licensee: Huobi Japan Inc.) as planned according to its regulatory address that 17F, Roppongi Hills, 6-2-31, Roppongi, Minato-ku, Tokyo, Japan.

The investigation team arrived at the destination on February 27, 2023, where Roppongi Hills a modern office building was situated in Roppongi with convenient transportation, nearly 2-minute walking distance from the Roppongi Station. After an on-site investigation, the survey team didn’t find any information about the company in the building.

Then, the survey personnel reached the company’s another address by further search that 10F, Hibiya Fort Tower, 1-1-1, Nishi-Shinbashi, Minato-ku, Tokyo, but didn’t spot the company’s information here. And the staff at the reception desk of the building also had no idea about the company.

Therefore, it is confirmed that the cryptocurrency exchange Huobi doesn’t have a physical presence at the addresses above.

Conclusion

The survey personnel went to Tokyo, Japan to visit the cryptocurrency exchange Huobi (licensee: Huobi Japan Inc.) as scheduled, but didn’t spot the company’s business office at its regulatory address. So the company’s regulatory information is not true. Investors are advised to make a sensible choice based on a comprehensive consideration.
