A Visit to BITOCEAN in Japan – No Office Found

Reason for this visit

As one of the largest markets around the world, Japan is the first country putting cryptocurrency under regulation, which attracts plenty of cryptocurrency exchanges. In order to help investors to get a more comprehensive understanding of the country's cryptocurrency exchanges, the survey team go to Japan for on-site visits.

On-site visit

In this issue, the investigation team went to Tokyo, Japan to visit the cryptocurrency exchange BITOCEAN (licensee: BITOCEAN Co., Ltd.) as planned according to its regulatory address that 8/F, Inamura Building, 1-9-2 Nihonbashi Kayabacho, Chuo-ku, Tokyo.

The investigation team arrived at the destination on February 27, 2023, but didn’t find the company on the 8th floor of the building, except the company called SORABITO which was running non-cryptocurrency business normally during opening hours.  

After an on-site investigation, it is confirmed that cryptocurrency exchange BITOCEAN doesn’t have a physical presence here.

Conclusion

The survey personnel went to Tokyo, Japan to visit the cryptocurrency exchange BITOCEAN (licensee: BITOCEAN Co., Ltd.) as scheduled, but didn’t spot the company’s business office at its regulatory address. So the company’s regulatory information is not true. Investors are advised to make a sensible choice based on a comprehensive consideration.
