StrongBlock loses $72K after attacker hijacks abandoned governance system

An attacker has drained about $72,000 worth of STRONG and STRNGR tokens after taking control of StrongBlocks abandoned on-chain governance system through a malicious proposal. According to blockchain security firm Defimon Alerts, the attacker acquired enough voting power in StrongBlock‘s governance to pass a proposal that ultimately transferred administrative control of the protocol’s Governor contract before the funds were removed. Instead of exploiting a flaw in StrongBlock‘s smart contracts, the attacker used the protocol’s own governance process to gain privileged access. After obtaining administrator rights, the attacker upgraded the Governor proxy to a new implementation that allowed arbitrary contract calls using the Governors authority. The incident adds to a series of recent crypto security events that have targeted governance systems, supporting infrastructure, and wallet software through different attack paths rather than relying solely on smart contract bugs. StrongBlock governance was used to seize protocol control Before the attack unfolded, the attacker accumulated a majority of the protocols STRONG governance token, which Defimon Alerts described as having become nearly worthless after the project was abandoned. Holding enough voting power, the attacker submitted a governance proposal instructing the Governor‘s Upgrader contract to execute setPendingAdmin(attacker), making the attacker’s address the pending administrator. Rather than bypassing governance, the proposal advanced through

BitMart Accused of Running Away and Blocking Withdrawals? “Debt Recovery Alliance” Formed: Users Dem

Recently, a former BitMart employee publicly exposed allegations on X, claiming that BitMart‘s collapse was a premeditated scheme to take users’ funds and disappear. According to the claims, before its alleged shutdown, BitMart used high-yield financial products to attract and collect approximately 40 million USDT from users. The platform has since reportedly refused withdrawal requests, especially large withdrawals. Even former employees allegedly had their crypto assets locked, while the company also refused to pay employee compensation and delayed some salary payments. It can be said that BitMart has severely damaged its reputation this time — allegedly even betraying its own employees. If insiders cannot withdraw their funds, can ordinary users still expect to get their assets back? Even more controversially, some allegations claim that BitMarts executives are planning to move to WooxPro and repeat the same alleged fund-raising and exit strategy. A crypto blogger on X claimed that the BitMart incident has already been officially filed for investigation and is highly likely to be treated as a landmark case. Exposé on X (Source: @silencefisher) Users affected by BitMart‘s withdrawal restrictions have now begun organizing themselves and forming a “Debt Recovery Alliance” to demand the return of their assets. This matter is unlikely to end anytime soon.

CASHCAT jumps 120% in a week as Robinhood Chain hits $774 million of value locked

SummaryCASHCAT, a cat-themed memecoin on Robinhood Chain, more than doubled in a week to about 8.7 cents. It remains well below its mid-July peak of roughly 22 cents.Even as launchpad activity and many early tokens have faded, Robinhood Chain‘s total value locked has climbed to about $774 million and tokenized real-world assets to $100 million, with CASHCAT alone worth roughly 85% of those assets’ value. The token is still the deepest/most liquid memecoin pool on the chain. The cat-themed token that dominated Robinhood Chains first trading days is up 120% over the past week, recovering part of the slide that followed Julys launch frenzy, even as the wave of tokens it launched alongside has thinned out. CASHCAT trades near 8.7 cents, up 22% in the past 24 hours, with a market cap around $86 million on $9 million of daily volume. However, that is still well short of the roughly 22 cents it reached in mid-July. The memecoin was built by outsiders around the cat-with-cash logo the company used before it rebranded, and its own website calls it “fan fiction with a ticker.” It became the first breakout hit on the chain within a week of the July 1 mainnet launch, minting seven-figure returns

3 Major Exchanges Turn Negative in XRP Wallet Metric: Coinbase Leads at -10.9K

$XRP may be entering a new phase in the market as more people are moving $XRP off major exchanges like Coinbase, Binance, and Crypto.com. Meanwhile, the price has become the least volatile it has been in the past three months. According to CryptoQuant analyst Amr Taha, these exchanges are seeing more $XRP withdrawals than deposits. This suggests that investors are taking their $XRP off exchanges instead of sending it there, which can be a sign that they plan to hold it rather than sell. Coinbase Sees Largest Increase in Withdrawal Wallets According to Taha, Coinbase recorded the biggest shift. Its seven-day net depositing/withdrawing wallets metric fell to -10,900 on August 4. In other words, withdrawing wallets outnumbered depositing wallets by 10,900 during the period. The reading was about 3.4 times deeper than Coinbases previous low of -3,200, recorded in June 2025. This points to a sharp increase in withdrawal activity. The trend was not limited to Coinbase. Taha said Coinbase, Binance, and Crypto.com all entered negative territory on July 17 and have remained there through early August. That suggests withdrawal activity has stayed elevated across multiple centralized exchanges. Binance recorded -2,550 wallets on August 4. It last reached a lower level in June 2025, when the metric

Lummis pushes CLARITY Act vote before August recess

Senator Cynthia Lummis is pressing the Senate to vote on the CLARITY Act before its August recess as bipartisan negotiations continue over several unresolved provisions. Lummis says CLARITY Act talks continue daily Lummis said Senate negotiators were still working toward an agreement after nearly 11 months of talks. During a Fox Business interview, the Wyoming Republican argued that lawmakers should consider the crypto market structure bill before leaving Washington. I am continuing to work with Democrats every day on the Clarity Act. I worked late last night on the CFTC portion of the bill and Im proud that @POTUS has gone further than any president in history to protect ethics. Lets provide a clear regulatory framework and keep this… pic.twitter.com/2EGffUEt9F — Senator Cynthia Lummis (@SenLummis) August 5, 2026 The senator said Majority Leader John Thune had reserved time for the legislation on the Senate agenda for several weeks. However, her comments reflected her expectation about the bills path rather than confirmation of a scheduled procedural vote. Lummis also said she had worked on provisions overseen by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission as negotiators tried to resolve differences between Republicans and Democrats. “I am continuing to work with Democrats every day on the Clarity Act.” She urged lawmakers to establish

Cloudflare OS: Here‘s What’s Inside the Open-Source AI Agent Platform

In briefCloudflare open sourced a new version of Cloudflare OS, a platform that gives every employee an agent, a workspace, and tools to build small apps.It bundles an agent workspace, a security and governance layer built around “Gatekeepers,” and a way to ship personal apps that run as Cloudflare Workers. The pitch: run the whole thing on your own systems, connected to your own data, instead of handing agents broad API keys. Cloudflare built the first version of Cloudflare OS for itself. In May, the company gave every one of its thousands of employees access, CEO Matthew Prince wrote, and people outside engineering started using it to draft documents, build slides, and automate repeatable work. Now Cloudflare is open sourcing a rebuilt version that any organization can deploy and connect to its own internal systems. “The security had to be part of the platform, not something every person building an app or using an agent has to implement correctly,” the company said in its announcement. Thats the real product. Whats actually inside Cloudflare OS combines three parts. First, theres an agent workspace that grounds each conversation in your companys curated context and skills, with an isolated runtime where the agent can write and run code.

Senator Lummis still pushing for CLARITY vote before August recess

The window for the US Congress to pass a comprehensive market structure bill on cryptocurrencies is closing, with the Senate set to go on recess in a matter of days, and lawmakers still have not announced clear plans to vote on the legislation. In a Wednesday X post, Senator Cynthia Lummis said she anticipated that the Senate would vote on the Digital Asset Market Clarity (CLARITY) Act before the chamber breaks for its month-long August recess. The Wyoming lawmaker has been one of the biggest proponents for the crypto bill, which has split many members of Congress and industry leaders over different provisions on ethics, stablecoins and tokenized equities. “Its just time to get people on the record,” said Lummis. The CLARITY Act, which has been under consideration in the Senate since its passage in the House of Representatives in July 2025 with a 294-to-134 vote, still faces opposition from many Democrats looking for stronger ethics provisions affecting US President Donald Trumps investments. The president has been under additional scrutiny since he disclosed he earned more than $1.4 billion from investments tied to digital assets in 2025.
