A Visit to Matrixport in HK, China -- No Office Found

Reason for this visit

As one of the global financial centers, Hong Kong attracts a great deal of capital for cryptocurrency investment from the world, playing a significant role in bridging the gap between Chinese Mainland and the world in cryptocurrency investment. Meanwhile, with developed economy and an excellent environment for innovation, Hong Kong has released a series of policies to support the development of the related sectors including cryptocurrency and blockchain. Therefore, plenty of cryptocurrency companies/projects are becoming the popular choice for more investors, among whom the majority buy cryptocurrencies online through crypto exchanges. In order to help investors have an overall understanding of the local exchanges, the survey team decide to pay on-site visits to them in Hong Kong. 

On-site visit

This time the survey team visited the cryptocurrency exchange matrixport at Room 1703, Officeplus, 303 Hennessy Road, Wanchaj, Hong Kong, China.

The investigation personnel arrived at the destination according to the above address, which is located in the famous traditional business district of Wan Chai with convenient MTR, various public transportations, and an environment of cleanness and hustle and bustle. There are also numerous shops, restaurants, banks and department stores.

The field survey team reached the destination floor of an ordinary business building, and didn’t spot any company’s name on the door of Room 1703, which seemed to be ready for renting. What’s more, there was no information about the exchange on the company directory of the building. So the team confirm that the company has no physical office here.

Conclusion

The survey personnel went to Hong Kong and visited the cryptocurrency exchange matrixport as planned, but did not find the office of the exchange at its publicly displayed business address, which means that the cryptocurrency exchange matrixport may not have a physical business venue. Investors are advised to choose this exchange carefully.
