Crypto asset manager 21Shares has surpassed $5 billion in Assets Under Management (AUM) amid market

Crypto asset manager 21Shares has surpassed $5 billion in Assets Under Management (AUM) amid market rebound.

In a Tuesday press release, the worlds largest issuer of cryptocurrency exchange-traded products (ETPs) said $3.17 billion is attributable to 21Shares AG, a subsidiary of 21.co.

“Achieving 5 billion in AUM is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our team, whose tireless efforts have propelled us to this remarkable milestone,” Ophelia Snyder, co-founder and President of 21Shares, said.

“We extend our deepest gratitude to every member of the 21Shares family for their unwavering commitment to excellence.”

21Shares Sees Rapid Growth

21Shares has experienced rapid growth over the past couple of years.

Just last month, the company joined Ark Invest to refile an application for a spot market Ethereum ETF.

The most notable revision elaborates on the ETFs share creation and redemption process.

Creation and redemption are unique features of ETFs that make them more transparent than other investment vehicles.

The mechanism keeps the share price of the funds close to the net asset value (NAV) of the underlying assets.

More recently, Ark Invest and 21Shares announced a collaboration to enhance transparency for their ARK 21Shares Bitcoin ETF (ARKB) by integrating Chainlinks Proof of Reserve platform to verify holdings data.

21Sharess diverse range of ETPs allow investors to gain exposure to cryptocurrencies through traditional investment vehicles without the need to directly buy, store, or manage the cryptocurrencies themselves.

21Shares ETPs are listed on various stock exchanges, making them accessible to investors who have accounts with traditional brokers that have access to these exchanges.

The ETPs are backed by the underlying cryptocurrencies, which are held in secure custody.

Meanwhile, the breakdown of the Assets Under Management (AUM) by region reveals that Europe holds the largest share at $3.17 billion, followed by the United States at $2.13 billion.

Australia accounts for $56.3 million of the AUM.

Crypto Custody Firms See Surge in AUM

Last month, Balance, a digital asset custodian based in Canada, has revealed that it has once again achieved $2 billion in assets under custody (AUC) amid the recent recovery in crypto markets.

Likewise, Korea Digital Asset (KODA), the largest institutional crypto custody service in South Korea, has seen a remarkable growth in crypto assets under its custody.

Just recently, the company revealed that the value of these crypto assets under its custody expanded by nearly 248% in the second half of 2023.

KODA, which was established through a collaboration between major Korean bank KB Bank, crypto venture capital firm Hashed, and blockchain tech firm Haechi Labs, said that the value of these assets reached approximately 8 trillion Korean won ($6 billion) by the end of last year.

This was a substantial increase from the 2.3 trillion won recorded at the end of June 2023.

According to analysts at Bernstein Research, crypto funds could reach a staggering $500 billion to $650 billion within the next five years, a significant leap from the current valuation of approximately $50 billion.
