Solanas plan for fairer trades stalls as block producers still choose which orders get in

A proposed Solana rule would let validators reject a block when transactions inside one entry batch are recorded out of fee-priority order. It would not decide which transactions make the block. The SIMD-0649 pull request closed on Sept. 25 without merging, leaving that narrower trade-off for further discussion rather than putting a new ordering rule into effect. Under the draft, a block producer, known as the leader, would still choose which transactions to include and how to divide them into batches. The proposed consensus check would make the order of transactions within each completed batch inspectable and enforceable. It would not establish one priority queue for an entire slot. Solanas ledger groups entries into batches. In the drafts design, non-exempt transactions in each batch would have to appear in non-increasing priority order. A validator replaying the block would compare their recorded priorities and treat a violation as an invalid block. It would not reshuffle transactions into the right sequence after receiving them. Equal-priority transactions could appear in

KAS went up 12%, but the Kaspa network is emptying out - What's happening?

Kaspa [KAS] has been among the ringleaders of tokens that have been making waves of late. While KAS continues to make an upswing, data points to weakening activity and liquidity positioning that could force a decline for the asset in the short term. Importantly, sentiment is also at play, which is presently changing the dynamics. Altcoins gain $371B since June – Can the rally survive rising exchange deposits?

Altcoin momentum is broadening as capital moves beyond Bitcoin [BTC] into a wider range of tokens. Since June, Total2 has absorbed over $371 billion, increasing its market capitalization by 45%. This rotation is now spreading across Binance-listed assets, where only 13.6% are currently trading below their 200-day Moving Averages (MA), while 87% are trading above them. Notably, the percentage of Binance-listed assets trading above their 200-day MA is significantly higher than it was a year ago Source: CryptoQuant The improved participation across the markets indicates a better distribution of price increases throughout the markets instead of being concentrated among just a few larger-capitalized tokens. If broader participation does continue, then the price action of the current rally will likely become more volatile should capital begin to flow away from those smaller-capitalized tokens. Are altcoins facing selling pressure? The spike in altcoin breadth is now colliding with an explosion in trade volume on exchanges. This is potentially a tipping point that could put downward pressure on the rally. The 25th of September saw approximately 70,000 altcoin deposits, the largest number of altcoin deposits seen since the 17th of October, 2025. Much of this flow came from Binance, while Coinbase, Bybit, and OKX provided additional inflows to exchanges. The fact that

Bitcoin's Quantum Problem: Three Ways Researchers Are Trying to Fix It

In briefA quantum computer could someday derive private keys from exposed public keys and drain Bitcoin wallets—the hypothetical “Q-Day”—though no such machine exists and timelines vary widely.Fixes fall into three buckets, all in the news this week: quantum-safe transactions under current rules, protocol upgrades like a soft fork, and custody-layer defenses.Nothing shipped this week makes Bitcoin quantum-safe on its own; the field is driving down defense costs while measuring how fast the threat is closing. Every few months, a fresh headline warns that quantum computers could one day crack Bitcoin. This week brought three at once—a cost breakthrough, a new privacy design, and a custody playbook—which makes it a good moment to separate the real threat from the noise. First, the problem—and its a very real one. Bitcoin secures wallets using elliptic-curve cryptography, the math that links a private key to a public one. A sufficiently powerful quantum computer running Shors algorithm could, in theory, derive a private key from an exposed public key, forge a signature and drain the wallet. Meme Coin Ban for California Officials Signed by Governor

California Gov. Gavin Newsom has signed legislation barring state and local public officials from issuing meme coins. The bill, which specifically prohibits politician-linked tokens, passed the California Senate 40-0 and the Assembly 78-0 before reaching Newsoms desk. A California “public officer” will not be able to issue a meme coin from now on. That definition covers state and local elected and appointed officials, members of the Legislature, and members of government boards, commissions, and committees, including bodies with only advisory powers. Meme Coin Ban for California Officials Signed by Governor Brandt Takes Fresh Shot at XRP ‘Cult’ Defining what a meme coin is is pretty challenging, and the bill applies a rather broad definition. It covers digital assets associated with internet memes, public figures, celebrities, fictional characters, current events, online humor, and so on. Notably, digital asset service providers will be banned from offering California residents meme coins issued on or after Jan. 1, 2027. It is important to stress that tokens such as Dogecoin are not outlawed, so this is not a statewide meme coin ban. Why California is banning officials from issuing meme coins California lawmakers state that financial instruments issued or promoted by government officials can create conflicts of interest, opportunities for “pay-to-play” arrangements, and risks
