ICON ICX to SODA Migration: Bitrue and OKX TR Delistings Tighten Access as Network Shutdown Approaches

Abstract:ICON’s ICX→SODA migration is now one-way after the two-way window closed Sep. 25. Bitrue ends ICX trading Sep. 30 at 06:00 UTC and will not perform the swap; OKX TR removes ICX/USDC and ICX/EUR later the same day. Final migration and ICON Network shutdown are Dec. 31.

ICON is now in the final quarter of its planned Layer-1 retirement, and September 30 concentrates several exchange-access risks for remaining ICX holders.

The most important current facts are:

  • two-way ICX↔SODA migration already ended September 25, five days earlier than a prior schedule;
  • only ICX → SODA migration remains;
  • Bitrue ends ICX spot trading at 06:00 UTC on September 30;
  • OKX TR removes ICX/USDC and ICX/EUR between 08:00 and 10:00 UTC;
  • final ICX→SODA migration deadline is December 31, 2026;
  • ICON Network is scheduled to permanently halt on December 31, 2026.

Important timeline correction: two-way migration ended September 25

ICON Foundation had previously said two-way migration would remain available until September 30.

On September 24, the Foundation moved that cutoff forward to:

September 25, 2026

It cited:

  • tightened technical/security requirements;
  • greater ICX oracle-price volatility;
  • thinning ICX liquidity.

Since then, only:

ICX → SODA

migration remains.

SODA can no longer be converted back into ICX through the official migration path.

Final deadline remains December 31

The Foundation says the final migration deadline remains:

December 31, 2026

On that date:

  • ICX→SODA migration ends;
  • ICON Network permanently stops producing blocks;
  • the network becomes a read-only archive for historical lookup.

ICX left unmigrated after the final cutoff will no longer have the projects migration route.

1:1 migration

The official migration is designed as:

1 ICX → 1 SODA

through the SODAX migration process.

Users should confirm:

  • official migration interface;
  • correct wallet/network;
  • gas requirements on the destination ecosystem.

The Foundation advises remaining ICX holders to migrate in self-custody rather than assume a centralized exchange will handle it.

Bitrue trading ends today

Bitrues September 29 notice says ICX deposits are already closed.

It will stop:

  • ICX/USDT;
  • ICX/XRP;
  • ICX/BTC;

trading at:

September 30, 06:00 UTC

Open orders are automatically removed.

Bitrue withdrawal deadline

Bitrue says ICX withdrawals remain available until:

October 30, 2026

After that:

  • withdrawals stop;
  • technical support terminates;
  • assets can become irretrievable on Bitrue.

That is a much earlier venue-specific access deadline than ICONs December 31 chain deadline.

Bitrue will not perform the ICX→SODA swap

This is the most important Bitrue-specific detail.

Bitrue says users who want to participate in the ICON migration must handle the token swap themselves.

Bitrue will not conduct the ICX→SODA migration on behalf of users.

That creates a two-step deadline:

  • withdraw ICX from Bitrue before October 30;
  • migrate ICX to SODA before December 31.
  • OKX TR reduces ICX markets today

    OKX TR already suspended ICX deposits on September 23.

    Today it removes:

    • ICX/USDC;
    • ICX/EUR;

    between:

    08:00 and 10:00 UTC

    ICX/USDT is scheduled to remain until:

    October 3, 08:00–10:00 UTC

    This gives OKX TR users a few more days of USDT spot liquidity after EUR/USDC access ends.

    OKX TR withdrawal deadline

    OKX TR says withdrawals for affected assets remain available until:

    December 23, 2026 at 08:00 UTC

    That is eight days before the final ICON Network shutdown/migration deadline.

    Users should not wait until December 31 if their ICX is still on OKX TR.

    Other exchange support has already contracted

    ICX support had already declined at other venues before today.

    The important market implication is cumulative:

    • fewer fiat/stablecoin pairs;
    • fewer deposit routes;
    • varying withdrawal deadlines;
    • less arbitrage liquidity;
    • greater slippage risk.

    A project can have a December final migration deadline while exchange liquidity deteriorates months earlier.

    ICON economic shutdown already happened

    ICON entered “economic shutdown” in March 2026.

    The Foundation says:

    • staking rewards ended;
    • token emissions ended;
    • the chain remains live primarily to support migration.

    The ecosystems forward development has shifted to SODAX.

    Why the network is shutting down

    ICON Foundation says maintaining a separate Layer 1 no longer fits its current mission.

    It is consolidating:

    • development;
    • liquidity;
    • user experience;
    • execution;

    around SODAX rather than maintaining both ICON L1 and the successor ecosystem.

    This is a planned retirement, not a newly discovered security compromise.

    Liquidity risk can precede technical shutdown

    The December 31 date is technically the final migration/network deadline.

    Economically, the more important risk can arrive sooner.

    As exchanges delist:

    • ICX market depth shrinks;
    • price references become thinner;
    • migration arbitrage becomes harder;
    • holders have fewer routes to move assets.

    The Foundation specifically cited thinning liquidity when it accelerated the two-way cutoff.

    Security and migration phishing

    A network retirement creates ideal phishing conditions.

    Users should expect fake:

    • “final migration” pages;
    • exchange support DMs;
    • wallet-upgrade requests;
    • SODA airdrops;
    • seed-phrase verification.

    The official migration does not require giving anyone a private key or seed phrase.

    Evidence Status

    Confirmed / ICON Foundation

    • Economic shutdown began Mar. 26.
    • Two-way ICX/SODA migration ended Sep. 25.
    • Only ICX→SODA remains.
    • Final migration deadline Dec. 31.
    • ICON Network shutdown Dec. 31.
    • Chain becomes read-only archive.

    Confirmed / Bitrue

    • ICX deposits closed.
    • Trading ends Sep. 30 06:00 UTC.
    • Withdrawals end Oct. 30.
    • Bitrue will not handle ICX→SODA swap.

    Confirmed / OKX TR

    • ICX deposits suspended.
    • ICX/USDC and ICX/EUR delist Sep. 30 08:00–10:00 UTC.
    • ICX/USDT delists Oct. 3.
    • Withdrawals end Dec. 23.

    Developing

    • Liquidity after exchange delistings.
    • Number/amount of ICX still unmigrated.
    • Additional venue delistings.
    • Final shutdown execution.

    Risk Assessment

    High migration / liquidity / asset-access risk.

    The migration path remains open, but exchange access is contracting and venue withdrawal deadlines precede the final chain deadline.

    What to Watch Next

    Bitrue trading closure, OKX TR pair removals, ICX liquidity, Bitrue Oct. 30 withdrawals, OKX TR Dec. 23 withdrawals and final Dec. 31 migration/network shutdown.
