The US April jobs report showed 115,000 positions added in April, nearly doubling the consensus forecast of 62,000, according to data the Bureau of Labor Statistics released on May 8. The unemployment rate held unchanged at 4.3%, marking the second consecutive month that payroll growth significantly outpaced expectations. Healthcare led job creation with 37,000 new positions, followed by gains in transportation, warehousing, and retail trade. Federal government employment continued to decline. Average hourly earnings rose 0.2% for the month and 3.6% year on year, coming in below the 0.3% and 3.8% forecasts respectively, suggesting that wage pressures remain contained even as hiring holds firm. What the report means for markets A stronger-than-expected labor market typically pushes out expectations for Federal Reserve rate cuts, as policymakers see less urgency to ease with unemployment low and hiring robust. U.S. crypto banking charter rush reshapes global financial access

More cryptocurrency firms are moving closer to the heart of the U.S. banking system, with a growing number of applications for federal trust bank charters. More than a dozen crypto and fintech companies have either applied for or secured conditional national trust bank charters from the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), according to American Banker and FinTech Weekly. Coinbase, Ripple, Circle, and BitGo are the most notable, alongside Morgan Stanley and Fidelity Digital Assets. Just in the news on Friday, Krakens parent firm, Payward, has joined the list. The company announced it has filed for a national trust company charter with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, with plans to establish the Payward National Trust Company (PNTC). PNTC will provide bank-level crypto custody and trust services for both institutional clients and individual customers, according to Paywards statement. More crypto firms are securing OCC charter approval An OCC national trust bank charter gives a company custody and management of assets under a single federal regulator. Overseas institutions are more familiar with a federally supervised banking framework. Under Trumps administration, we are seeing the US banking regulator ease up on crypto companies. In just the past month, Coinbase received conditional approval for its own

Bitwise Data Shows Institutional Crypto Adoption Entering New Phase

The post Bitwise Data Shows Institutional Crypto Adoption Entering New Phase appeared first on Coinpedia Fintech News The suits finally stopped pretending crypto was just a casino for internet gamblers. Institutional crypto adoption has officially crossed into the “too big to ignore” phase, and the latest Bitwise industry report makes that painfully obvious. Banks, asset managers, custodians and basically every financial giant that spent years side-eyeing blockchain are now elbow-deep in digital assets. And it keeps getting crowded which is good thing for the sector. Wall Street Quietly Embraces Digital Asset Infrastructure The “Crypto Adoption by Institutions” matrix reads like a traditional finance hall of fame. BlackRock, BNY Mellon, Goldman Sachs, and JPMorgan Chase are all actively participating across trading, custody, private funds, and crypto-enabled services. Funny how “magic internet money” suddenly became respectable once the fees started flowing. Banks and crypto: better together. pic.twitter.com/WGZ34drnfK — Bitwise (@Bitwise) May 8, 2026 But let‘s be real, this isn’t charity or ideological belief in decentralization. Institutions see tokenization as the next revenue machine. And honestly? The numbers back it up. According to RWA.xyz data, Distributed Asset Value climbed to $30.95 billion, jumping 4.84% in just 30 days. Meanwhile, Represented Asset Value surged to $396.12 billion, showing that real-world assets

Anthropic Targets $1T Valuation as Investors Chase Claude’s Enterprise Growth

Anthropic is reportedly considering raising tens of billions of dollars as early as this summer to fund a sweeping expansion of its computing infrastructure. The fundraising could see the artificial intelligence companys valuation approach $1 trillion, potentially vaulting it ahead of rival OpenAI. The developer of the Claude chatbot, valued at $380 billion in February, has drawn interest from investors including Dragoneer, General Catalyst, and Lightspeed Venture Partners as revenue accelerates. A report citing anonymous sources said Anthropics annualized revenue is expected to surpass $45 billion imminently, a fivefold increase from $9 billion at the end of last year. “People are ready to throw any dollar amount at Anthropic,” one investor said. “It‘s just about when they want to say they’re ready.” Sources familiar with the talks said Anthropic is exploring a raise of up to $50 billion at a pre-money valuation of about $900 billion. The round could close within two months, though terms have not been finalized, and the deal may not materialize. OpenAI was valued at $852 billion post-money in March after securing a record $122 billion round. Chief Financial Officer Krishna Rao has been meeting with prospective backers, and existing investors have already begun requesting allocations despite the company not

Bittensor unveils TaonSquare, a directory for AI tools and services

Bittensor has launched TaonSquare, a directory that aggregates AI tools and services running on its decentralized network. Think of it as an app store, but for the sprawling ecosystem of AI applications that Bittensors subnets have been quietly producing. What TaonSquare actually does At its core, TaonSquare is a curated list of AI tools and services powered by Bittensor, designed for both building and exploring. It‘s a user-facing gateway into a network that has, until now, been far more legible to developers and miners than to the average person trying to use what they’ve built. The network runs on independent subnets, each one essentially a specialized marketplace. Miners within those subnets produce AI outputs, things like language model responses and data analysis, off-chain. Validators then assess the quality of those outputs and reward contributors in TAO, the networks native token. The directory is positioned as relevant to both developers looking to build on top of Bittensor‘s infrastructure and end users who want to explore what’s available. Why this fits Bittensors bigger picture The networks 2024 roadmap emphasized growing its base of validators and miners, the supply side of the equation. For 2025, the focus has shifted toward enterprise tool development, the demand side. TaonSquare fits squarely

Can XTZ Price Escape Its Multi-Year Downtrend?

The post Can XTZ Price Escape Its Multi-Year Downtrend? appeared first on Coinpedia Fintech News Many traders had written off XTZ as a “ghost chain,” but Tezos surprised them with a genuine technical upgrade rather than a recycled roadmap. The launch of the Tezos X Previewnet on May 5 is suddenly putting the spotlight back on XTZ, especially as the token sits deep inside a historical demand zone around $0.35-$0.50. And yeah, after a brutal decline since 2021, that‘s either the perfect accumulation range or the world’s longest crypto coma. Tezos X Removes Bridges From Equation Here‘s the interesting part. Tezos X isn’t another fragmented Layer 2 experiment. The Previewnet introduces a unified execution layer where EVM and Michelson contracts operate on the same ledger. In plain English: no bridges, no wrapped assets, and fewer moving parts waiting to implode during peak volatility. The system allows atomic transactions across Solidity and Michelson contracts in one block. If one side fails, the entire transaction rolls back. Thats the kind of infrastructure pitch developers actually care about. Tezos X Previewnet is live. This testnet is your first chance to get hands-on with the Tezos X architecture, start building, start testing, and help refine the experience with your feedback. Meanwhile, Tezos

Dollar Edges Lower As Traders Brace For Key Jobs Data

The U.S. dollar edged lower against a basket of major currencies on Friday as currency markets adopted a cautious tone ahead of the release of the March nonfarm payrolls report. Investors are closely watching the data for signals on the health of the labor market and the Federal Reserves next policy move. Market Positioning Ahead of the Data The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, slipped 0.2% in early European trading, settling near 104.3. The move reflects a wait-and-see approach among traders, who are reluctant to place large directional bets before the official release. The euro edged higher to $1.0850, while the British pound rose to $1.2670, as both currencies gained modestly against the weakening dollar. The Japanese yen also firmed slightly, with USD/JPY falling to 151.2, as safe-haven demand supported the yen amid broader uncertainty over global trade and interest rate trajectories. Why the Jobs Report Matters The March nonfarm payrolls report, due at 8:30 a.m. Eastern Time, is expected to show the U.S. economy added 240,000 jobs, according to a Reuters poll of economists. The unemployment rate is forecast to hold steady at 3.9%, while average hourly earnings are projected to rise 0.3% month-over-month. This data is critical because it

AMD and Intel hit ATHs as agentic AI demand lifts chip stocks

AMD and Intel shares climbed to new all time highs Friday as Wall Street continued to reward chipmakers tied to artificial intelligence infrastructure and rising demand for central processing units. AMD rose about 9% to roughly $443, lifting its market capitalization to about $720 billion, while Intel gained about 14% to around $124, pushing its market value near $627 billion at press time. The rally followed AMDs stronger than expected first quarter results earlier this week. The company reported revenue of $10.3 billion, up 38% from a year earlier, while data center revenue jumped 57% to $5.8 billion, driven by demand for AMD EPYC processors and the continued ramp of AMD Instinct GPU shipments. Wall Street analysts have turned increasingly bullish on AMD after the report, with Reuters noting that at least 20 brokerages raised their price targets following the companys forecast and its expanding exposure to AI infrastructure demand. AMD CEO Lisa Su told CNBC this week that agentic AI is accelerating demand across the compute market. “Agents are really driving tremendous demand in the overall AI adoption cycle, and we‘re very excited to be in the middle of it,” Su said during an interview on CNBC’s Squawk on the Street. Intel‘s rally has
