Crypto Biz: When dollars disappear, stablecoins step in

Stablecoins have long been pitched as a faster way to move dollars across borders. In Bolivia, they‘re increasingly becoming a way to access dollars in the first place. The country’s recent proposal to recognize Tethers USDt (USDT) for payments underscores how economic instability is driving adoption in many emerging markets. Elsewhere, Bitcoin miners are discovering that pivoting to AI infrastructure may unlock new revenue streams, but it doesnt shield them from investor scrutiny. Bolivia weighs recognizing USDT amid dollar shortage Bolivia is considering a regulatory framework that would recognize Tether‘s USDT as a payment currency, marking another step in the country’s push to integrate digital assets into its financial system. Economy and Public Finance Minister Jose Gabriel Espinoza said the proposal would allow USDT to circulate alongside the boliviano and the US dollar for payments and savings. The framework remains under review and would include anti-money laundering safeguards, as Bolivia is still on the Financial Action Task Force‘s gray list. The initiative follows the lifting of the country’s crypto ban in 2024 and the new administrations pledge to expand access to digital asset services. The proposal comes as Bolivia struggles with a prolonged shortage of US dollars after pressure on foreign exchange reserves forced the

FILE Price Prediction: Dead Center Won't Hold — $0.72 or $0.82 Decision Is Coming Fast

Luisa Crawford Jul 17, 2026 09:29 FILE is locked in a suffocating technical compression at $0.77, with momentum indicators flatlining and a dangerous divergence between smart money positioning and real-time sell flow. The next 7 da… FILEs Technical Reality Check The tape on FILE right now is a study in exhaustion. Every short-term moving average — the 7-day SMA, the 20-day SMA, EMA 12, EMA 26 — has converged into a single tight cluster right at $0.77, which is exactly where price is pinned. That kind of moving average compression doesn‘t persist. It resolves. The question is direction, and the broader time frames aren’t painting an encouraging picture: FILE sits below its 50-day SMA at $0.79 and is trading a full 21% under its 200-day SMA at $0.98. Whatever this tokens past, the dominant trend on any meaningful timescale remains bearish. Momentum is essentially comatose. The MACD histogram is printing at precisely zero — not a bullish cross, not a bearish flush, just a flatline. That‘s not indecision, that’s depletion. Both buyers and sellers have withdrawn to the sidelines simultaneously, which typically means the next catalyst — however minor — gets amplified. The RSI at 46.67 confirms the lean: sub-50, default bias is bearish, but

INJ Price Prediction: Dead Zone or Launch Pad — $5.24 or $4.48 Decides Everything

Zach Anderson Jul 17, 2026 09:23 INJ is pinned at $4.90 in a textbook momentum vacuum with MACD flatlined and RSI glued to neutral — but smart money is leaning 58.9% long with OI expanding into the dip. A close above $5.07 targets… Market Context: Why INJ is Moving Now INJ is down 3.81% in 24 hours and sitting at $4.90 — parked right at the intersection of indecision. The 24-hour range of $4.82–$5.12 says it all: neither side has conviction. Bulls can‘t sustain a push through the overhead 50 SMA at $5.17, and bears can’t crack the immediate support cluster that has held intraday. The result is a compression zone, and compressed ranges dont stay compressed. The longer-term structure is still intact — INJ trades nearly 18% above its 200 SMA at $4.14, so the broader trend hasn‘t broken. But the intermediate picture is deteriorating. The 50 SMA is acting as a lid, price is barely clinging above the 7 SMA at $4.91, and every rally into the upper $5s is getting sold. This is not a healthy bull market pattern; it’s a market in triage, deciding whether to heal or bleed out. Blockchain.news has been tracking how DeFi infrastructure tokens tend to behave

Citadel Securities, the Wall Street market maker, now has $600 million in announced strategic investments across two rival crypto exchanges, each valued at $20 billion. Crypto.com announced its $400 million deal on July 16, 2026. Previously, on Nov. 18, 2025, Kraken disclosed an executed agreement for a $200 million investment at the same valuation. Together, the investments give Citadel economic exposure to both venues as they expand beyond crypto trading. Crypto.com called the deal its first institutional funding round in a decade. It said the capital is expected to accelerate expansion across asset classes, including tokenized securities and derivatives, while connecting digital-asset and traditional markets. Its ambition reaches beyond its existing crypto exchange business toward a broader platform for financial products. Krakens historical financing pointed in the same direction. The exchange said the 2025 raise was to accelerate its strategy to bring traditional financial products on-chain and broaden its offerings beyond crypto. Its disclosed collaboration with Citadel includes differentiated liquidity provision, risk management expertise, and market structure insights. The identical $20 billion valuations give Citadel exposure to two rivals chasing much the same multi-asset market.
