'Shiba Inu Isn't Dead': Community Veteran Calls Out Outdated SHIB Link

Abstract:Mazrael, a long-time SHIB community member and Shiba Eternity advisor, has warned that the legacy domain shibatoken.com now shows a takedown notice instead of redirecting to the SHIB ecosystem. In April 2026 the redirect was cut, so many partner sites, wallets, and listings linking to the domain now point to a dead end. Mazrael noted the domain is not expired; it is paid through 2027 and locked, indicating a deliberate decision to sever traffic. He urged exchanges, explorers, and partners to update their SHIB-related links, as the takedown may wrongly suggest Shiba Inu is dead. Shib.io remains the official portal.

Long-time SHIB community member and Shiba Eternity advisor, Mazrael, has raised concerns about a Shiba Inu legacy website link that creates the false impression that the SHIB project is dead.

The Shiba Inu legacy domain in question is shibatoken.com, which was registered 3 days after SHIB launched in August 2020. For years, this link for the Shiba Inu mainnet redirected to the shib.io website.

Mazrael stated that this was why partners, listings, and directories pointed to it, as it redirected to the SHIB ecosystem. This worked exactly as intended until April 2026, when the redirect was severed.

Based on domain records, the Shibatoken page was last updated on April 17, 2026. It was flagged and now has a takedown notice.

Mazrael highlighted the implications of this: every partner page, every listing, every wallet and explorer entry pointing at the Shiba Inu legacy domain, which was the correct thing to do then as it redirected to the SHIB ecosystem, was silently converted into a dead end. “One switch. Thousands of broken doors,” Mazrael stated.

Mazrael cited Zama, a Shiba Inu partner whose page lists the Shibatoken link as that for the SHIB mainnet, which today serves nothing but a takedown notice. “Anyone evaluating Shib from here concludes the project is dead. It isn't,” Mazrael stated.

Here's what happened

According to Mazrael, the takedown notice on the ShibaToken legacy website was not due to neglect, nor is it a case of an expired domain. He stated that the domain was locked against transfer and paid through 2027. “Someone with control made a deliberate choice to cut Shib's own traffic away from Shib's own ecosystem,” he added.

As reported, Mazrael informed the community of legacy domains that are no longer maintained by the project, including the domain of ShibTheMetaverse, a virtual world backed by the Shiba Inu ecosystem.

Shiba Inu legacy domains have been decommissioned, with Shib.io now the primary portal to the Shiba ecosystem, ShibaSwap and Shibarium. In this light, Mazrael urges the Shiba Inu community to ensure exchanges, wallets, explorers, partners and listing platforms review their SHIB-related links and update them where necessary.
