The strong emphasis on compatibility creates a clear path, allowing traditional market players to adopt DeFi with ease and effectively. Equally, it shows a long-term roadmap focused on real-world utility rather than speculative activity, further boosting investor confidence. Addressing the infrastructure gap, amid surging capital In fact, Aptos claims markets and institutions have shown trust in the infrastructure. Arbitrum approves $71 Million ETH release despite U.S. seizure fight

Arbitrum delegates approved the release of $71 million in ether frozen after last months Lazarus-linked rsETH exploit, setting up a direct clash between decentralized governance and an active U.S. court fight over who owns the funds. The on-chain vote, which closed Friday afternoon Hong Kong time with more than 90% support, authorizes the release of 30,765 ETH frozen by Arbitrums Security Council after the April 18 exploit, when attackers used unbacked rsETH tokens as collateral on Aave to borrow roughly $230 million in ETH from the protocol. The funds are earmarked for a coordinated industry recovery effort led by Aave, KelpDAO, LayerZero, EtherFi and Compound, aimed at making affected users whole. But the frozen ether is also at the center of an escalating legal dispute in Manhattan federal court. Last week, attorney Charles Gerstein, representing families holding roughly $877 million in unpaid terrorism judgments against North Korea, served a restraining notice on Arbitrum DAO claiming the frozen ETH constitutes North Korean property because the exploit has been widely attributed to Pyongyangs Lazarus Group. That triggered an emergency legal fight. Aave moved earlier this week to vacate the restraining notice, arguing the assets belong to innocent users, not North Korea, and warning that continued delays risk “cascading

US Nabs 8 ‘Laptop Farmers’ for North Korea over 5 months

Prosecutors said Knoot, who was sentenced on May 1, and Prince, sentenced on Wednesday, each received 18 months in prison. Prince was ordered to forfeit $89,000, the amount the North Korean workers paid him for the scheme, while Knoot was ordered to pay $15,100 in restitution to the companies and to forfeit an additional $15,100, the amount he earned from the scheme. Last month, New Jersey residents Kejia Wang and Zhenxing Wang were given nine years in prison and seven years, eight months in prison, respectively, for hosting laptop farms for North Korea. Prosecutors in that case said the scheme lasted multiple years, used the stolen identities of 80 people in the US and made over $5 million for the North Korean government. According to a report by CrowdStrike in August, the number of companies that hired North Korean workers over the previous 12 months jumped 220%, with workers infiltrating more than 320 companies over that period. BlackRock Backs GENIUS Act Stablecoin Framework, Pushes 7 Recommendations

BlackRock has filed a comment letter with the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, backing the agencys proposed regulatory framework for payment stablecoin issuers under the GENIUS Act. The worlds largest asset manager submitted seven recommendations, urging the OCC to permit broader reserve eligibility and adopt flexible compliance rules. BlackRock said the GENIUS Act framework can support real-time settlement and stronger payment system standards. BlackRock Backs Principles-Based Framework The OCC proposal, published on March 2, sets requirements for permitted payment stablecoin issuers (PPSIs) under the Guiding and Establishing National Innovation for U.S. Stablecoins (GENIUS) Act. It addresses reserve assets, diversification, concentration, capital, and supervisory standards. BlackRock said it prefers the agencys “Option A,” which pairs a principles-based approach with an optional quantitative safe harbor. That harbor carries 10% daily and 30% weekly liquidity thresholds, a 40% concentration limit, and a 20-day weighted average maturity cap. With the right regulatory framework in place, stablecoins can improve the payments system and drive new forms of financial utility, including real-time settlement.
