Bitcoin Big Volatility Expected as Microsoft & Alphabet Earnings Hit Later Today

Bitcoin Bitcoin Big Volatility Expected as Microsoft & Alphabet Earnings Hit Later Today Bitcoin could be about to be tossed around on a sea of volatility as four of the Mag 7 stocks release Q1 earnings. As well as Microsoft and Alphabet, two other giant U.S. companies, Amazon and Apple, will also publish their earnings. The U.S. stock market could move strongly in either direction, depending on how the results are perceived by the market. Bitcoin is likely to get swept along into any euphoria/depression that follows. Bitcoin back to $78K/$79K and retest of trendline Source: TradingView The short-term time frame for $BTC shows that the price is either going to hold above $77,000, or lose this support again and retreat to $76,000. Given that momentum has reset in other short-term time frames, the likelihood is that the price will continue to claw its way back up from here. A retest of the ascending trendline plus the $78K-$79K resistance level is a possible target. If the 4 big Mag 7 companies pull off decent earnings across the board there is the chance that Bitcoin is buoyed up by potential strong gains in the U.S. stock market on Thursday. That said, the S&P Index is right up

Tech Federal Judge Denies SBF Retrial Motion, 25-Year Sentence StandsJudge Lewis Kaplan denied SBFs request for a new trial and called the claims baseless.Kaplan said allegations of witness pressure by prosecutors were “wildly conspiratorial.”Sam Bankman-Fried tried to withdraw his motion, but the court proceeded and denied the request. Crypto entrepreneur Sam Bankman-Fried lost his bid for a new trial after US District Judge Lewis Kaplan rejected claims of newly discovered evidence tied to the collapse of FTX. In a Tuesday filing in the Southern District of New York, Kaplan called the motion “baseless” and said key allegations were “wildly conspiratorial and entirely contradicted by the record.” The ruling leaves Bankman-Frieds 25-year prison sentence in place while his separate appeal continues. Judge Says Witness Claims Were Not New Bankman-Fried argued that testimony from former FTX executives could support his position that FTX was solvent and customers were later repaid through bankruptcy proceedings. He pointed to former FTX Digital Markets co-CEO Ryan Salame and former head of data science Daniel Chapsky. Kaplan rejected the argument, writing that none of the witnesses were newly discovered. He said Bankman-Fried knew them before the trial and knew what he expected them to say. The judge added that Bankman-Fried could have sought to compel their

Stablecoin impasse causing DeFi, ‘ethics’ concerns grow

Tech Stablecoin impasse causing DeFi, ‘ethics’ concerns grow Just when U.S. crypto supporters think theyve extinguished one digital asset market structure fire, new blazes ignite, and the smoke is making the finish line even harder to see. The Senate Banking Committee has yet to schedule a markup session for its CLARITY Act digital asset market structure bill, despite recent claims that the long-running stablecoin ‘yield/rewards’ fight between crypto stakeholders and the banking sector had been resolved. On April 21, Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) poured cold water on hopes that Banking would hold a markup session this month, suggesting May was a far better bet. Tillis, who has been working with fellow Committee member Angela Alsobrooks (D-MD) on a bipartisan stablecoin compromise (the text of which has yet to be made public), said more time was needed to ensure all stakeholders views received ample consideration. Accordingly, stakeholders on both sides of this debate have been airing their concerns/grievances with Banking members. Crypto In Americas Eleanor Terrett reported that the North Carolina Bankers Association asked their employees to call Tillis to insist on “an airtight prohibition” of digital asset platforms like Coinbase (NASDAQ: COIN) offering “any interest or yield-like payments tied to the holding, retention, or balance

Market reaction The May 14 contract spiked from 2% to 50% at 11:40 AM yesterday but quickly settled back to 5%. Traders briefly priced in an immediate exit, then reverted. The May 15 contract jumped to 73.5% YES, up from 26% just a day ago, a 47.5-point surge reflecting increased expectations of Powells departure in that window. The signing took place on Tuesday at Hana Financial Groups headquarters in Seoul, following a proof-of-concept completed earlier this year by Hana and Dunamu. Results from that pilot, as disclosed by the firms, showed that blockchain infrastructure could reduce both settlement time and transaction costs when compared with the traditional SWIFT framework, where payment instructions and fund transfers occur in separate stages. By combining these steps into a single process, the new system is designed to handle remittances in real time. GIWA Chain

AI Agent Deleted PocketOS Database in 9 Seconds

Tech AI Agent Deleted PocketOS Database in 9 Seconds PocketOS‘ founder Jeremy Crane announced that an AI coding agent destroyed his company’s production database and backups in nine seconds. The agent, using Anthropic‘s Claude Opus 4.6 model on the Cursor platform, triggered Railway infrastructure provider’s GraphQL API with a single call during a routine task. Crane notes in his viral post on the X platform that the agent later produced a text confessing its errors. The agent admitted that while user approval is required for destructive commands, it made incorrect assumptions to resolve authentication inconsistencies. This incident highlights the risks of granting AI-based tools access to production environments.
