Bitcoin Price on Knife’s Edge: Liquidation Explosion Awaits at $82,000

Bitcoin Bitcoin Price on Knifes Edge: Liquidation Explosion Awaits at $82,000 Bitcoin (BTC) is trapped between two deep liquidation pockets, with stacked longs below $80,000 and dense short positions above $82,000. A decisive break could trigger a cascade and ignite the next major move. BTC trades near $80,107 after slipping 0.48% over the past 24 hours. Market structure has weakened with three consecutive lower highs, while volatility across multiple timeframes has compressed to historic lows. Liquidation Heatmap Shows BTC Caught Between Two Walls The 12-hour Bitcoin liquidation heatmap from CoinGlass shows BTC consolidating around $80,800 with two unusually dense leverage clusters bracketing the current price. Bright yellow bands sit just above $82,000, where stacked short positions face liquidation, while a second cluster between $79,800 and $80,500 marks where leveraged longs would be wiped out. BTC 12-hour Liquidation Heatmap. Source: CoinGlass Liquidation cascades typically amplify short-term moves by adding directional pressure. A push through $82,000 would squeeze shorts and fuel a fast run higher, while a flush below $80,000 would wipe leveraged longs and accelerate the slide. Lower Highs Suggest Momentum Is Fading While the heatmap frames the binary outcome, market structure is leaning bearish. Throughout the prior leg up, Bitcoin typically formed only one lower high before resuming the trend. The

CLARITY Act Thursday Markup Explained: What It Actually Means and What Happens Next

The post CLARITY Act Thursday Markup Explained: What It Actually Means and What Happens Next appeared first on Coinpedia Fintech News There is widespread confusion in the crypto community about what Thursdays Senate Banking Committee markup actually means for the CLARITY Act. To be direct: a successful markup on Thursday does not mean the bill becomes law. It does not even mean the bill goes to the Senate floor for a vote. It is one step in a much longer process. Ron Hammond, Head of Policy and Advocacy at Wintermute, broke down exactly what is happening and why it matters. What a Markup Actually Is A markup is the process where committee members debate, amend, and vote on a bill before it can advance to the next stage. Think of it as the committee giving the bill its final shape before passing it up the chain. On Thursday, Senate Banking Committee Chairman Tim Scott will present the base draft. Members can then propose substitute amendments. The committee votes on those amendments and ultimately on whether to advance the bill out of committee. If it passes, the bill moves to the next stage. If it fails, the process stops entirely. Why Amendments Are Flying In From Every

Venice Token jumps after Upbit listing opens Korean markets to VVV

Tech Venice Token jumps after Upbit listing opens Korean markets to VVV Venice Token landed on Upbit on May 12, giving the privacy-focused AI token access to South Korea‘s largest crypto exchange and one of the world’s most active retail trading markets. Upbit listed VVV with KRW, BTC, and USDT trading pairs. What happened and why Upbit matters Upbit matters because it puts VVV directly in front of South Koreas retail trading base, one of the most active forces behind exchange listing rallies. The KRW pair adds extra weight by letting local traders buy VVV directly with won, without routing through Bitcoin or stablecoins first. VVV rallied around the listing, with market coverage showing the token reaching $19.40 before trading near $18.02 for a 16.4% daily gain and a 91% weekly advance. Later price data showed a sharper pullback as traders took profits after the Upbit and Crypto.com listings. Venice AI and the tokens utility Venice Token is the native asset of Venice AI, a privacy-focused AI platform built around private access to AI services. Venice says VVV holders can stake the token, earn yield, unlock Venice Pro access by staking 100 VVV, and mint DIEM, a second token in the Venice ecosystem. DIEM is designed to provide

Anatoly Yakovenko says Solana’s Alpenglow upgrade changes MEV economics

Tech Anatoly Yakovenko says Solanas Alpenglow upgrade changes MEV economics Solana‘s Alpenglow consensus upgrade is now live on a community test cluster, marking the largest consensus overhaul in the network’s history as developers move toward a potential mainnet rollout later this year. The upgrade could reach mainnet as soon as next quarter if testing proceeds smoothly, according to recent comments from Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko. It was approved by Solana validators in September 2025 with more than 98% support. How Alpenglow changes the MEV calculus Alpenglow changes the economics around MEV by making delay based transaction ordering more expensive for validators. Yakovenko has said the upgrade increases the cost for leaders that delay slot production, reducing the incentive to manipulate transaction ordering through intentional delays. Under the new structure, leaders that miss timeout windows risk losing future slot opportunities. That penalty matters because some of the most valuable MEV opportunities depend on timing. By raising the cost of delaying slots, Alpenglow makes those strategies less attractive. Replacing Proof-of-History and what that means Alpenglow replaces major parts of Solanas existing consensus architecture, including Proof of History and TowerBFT, with two new components called Votor and Rotor. Votor handles voting and finalization, while Rotor is designed to improve block propagation

Cisco (CSCO) Stock Earnings Today: AI Boom Meets Margin Concerns

Cisco Systems, Inc., CSCO Analyst consensus calls for adjusted profit of $1.03 per share alongside revenue totaling $15.6 billion. These figures represent growth from the year-ago quarters 96 cents per share and $14.1 billion in sales. The networking business represents the critical element of Ciscos performance narrative. Projections suggest this segment will generate $8.44 billion during the quarter — representing a substantial 19% year-over-year expansion — as organizations continue investing heavily in AI-related hardware capabilities. UBS analyst David Vogt highlighted increasing capital spending from hyperscale cloud providers such as Meta as a positive catalyst for Ciscos business. His firm maintains a Buy recommendation with a $95 target price. However, a significant obstacle remains — and its the identical issue that caused problems during the previous quarterly report. Profitability Margins Face Headwinds Memory component pricing has remained elevated, creating pressure on hardware manufacturers throughout the technology sector. During the previous quarter, Cisco delivered gross margins of 67.5%, falling short of the Streets 68.1% projection. The stock plummeted 12% in the trading session following that February 12 announcement. Current forecasts indicate fiscal Q3 gross margins will register at 66.2%, representing a decline from the 68.6% figure posted twelve months earlier. This compression is particularly noteworthy given that Cisco has

Australia regulator flags rise in AI scams and laundering

Tech Australia regulator flags rise in AI scams and laundering Australias financial intelligence unit, Austrac, has raised concerns that artificial intelligence is accelerating money laundering operations by enabling criminals to scale scams, automate workflows, and create fraudulent documents. CEO Brendan Thomas said in a statement that AI is increasingly part of criminals laundering toolkit, allowing them to fabricate identities and conceal proceeds more efficiently than traditional methods. The warning comes as Austrac released updated risk assessments on financial crime, including threats tied to Iran and North Korea, and pointed to Australias globally connected economy as a key vulnerability. State-backed hackers adopt AI to speed up cyber operations, Google says Cyber threat actors, including criminal groups and state-backed hackers, are increasingly leveraging generative AI to automate exploit development, enhance malware, and expand cyber operations, Googles threat intelligence unit reported this week. The findings show AI is moving from testing to active deployment, including AI-assisted zero-day exploits and campaigns targeting authentication tools before being disrupted. The report also highlights AI-powered malware such as PROMPTSPY, which uses Googles Gemini API to control infected devices, as well as larger efforts by attackers to exploit AI systems, supply chains, and model access for cybercrime.

Cosmos jumps over 9% – But is ATOM’s rally already turning into bull trap?

Tech Cosmos jumps over 9% – But is ATOMs rally already turning into bull trap? Recent capital inflows into appear largely speculative, as the underlying liquidity conditions do not fully support the current bullish momentum. The asset attracted significant attention over the past 24 hours after rallying 9.5%. However, at press time, market data suggested that sellers still maintained active control across several segments of the market. This raises the possibility that the current rally could be a bull trap, as AMBCryptos analysis highlights weakening liquidity conditions despite the price surge. Short positions dominate $250M volume surge Although Cosmos [ATOM] price action remains bullish on the surface, the broader derivatives structure suggests there is a strong possibility that the ongoing rally could trap late buyers. Press time data showed a significant increase in perpetual market volume, which climbed to slightly above $250 million. Such a rise in volume often reflects growing activity between buyers and sellers. However, the long-to-short ratio provided additional context, showing that short positions dominated most of the trades executed during this period. Source: CoinGlass At the time of writing, the ratio had dropped to roughly 0.79 on the chart. Typically, whenever the ratio falls below 1, it indicates that bearish traders control a larger share of trading

DeFi projects lose $6M in fresh string of exploits this week

A flurry of relatively small-scale hacks continues to wreak havoc on smaller crypto projects, despite flying under the radar when compared to recent mammoth losses. So far this year, Protos hack tracker shows 77 entries, totaling over $1.1 billion in losses. April was a particularly rough month; the losses across its 33 incidents totalled over $600 million. However, just two incidents, namely the Drift Protocol and rsETH bridge hacks, made up 95% of the months losses between them. While May hasnt kept up such a devastating pace, an uptick in hacker activity has seen almost $6 million stolen from six projects this week alone. Monday May 11: Two (smaller) hacks On the Polygon network, Ink Finances Workspace Treasury Proxy contract was exploited for $140,000 on Monday. According to crypto security firm SlowMists analysis, the root cause was the lack of access control in the PayrollDistribution function. Huma Finance lost $100,000 the same day, also on Polygon. The teams statement insists that the losses were from (now-paused) “legacy v1 contracts” and that its Solana-based v2 is a “complete rewrite and this issue does not apply.” Tuesday May 12: Four hacks On Tuesday evening, TAC, a “purpose-built blockchain for EVM dApps to access TON,” alerted users to a “security incident affecting

UB Token Explodes After Unibase Agent Market Launch

Tech UB Token Explodes After Unibase Agent Market Launch The post UB Token Explodes After Unibase Agent Market Launch appeared first on Coinpedia Fintech News UB token has gone from forgotten small-cap territory to full-blown vertical breakout mode in barely a month. And yeah, traders are suddenly acting like they believed in it all along. After spending nearly seven months trapped between $0.02 and $0.06, UB finally woke up in early May 2026. The breakout accelerated after price reclaimed the long-standing demand zone near $0.02 in April, then bulldozed through multiple historical resistance levels one after another. The latest move pushed UB above the critical $0.16–$0.17 zone before touching roughly $0.21 which is a staggering climb from April lows. UB Price Breakout Enters Discovery Phase Technically, the structure looks almost textbook. Each resistance level flipped into support before the next breakout leg formed, creating a clean stair-step accumulation pattern. Well, at this point the current rally no longer looks like a simple relief bounce. The sharp vertical candles suggest aggressive liquidity inflows and speculative demand entering after UB cleared major psychological levels like $0.10 and $0.16. With previous seller pressure seemingly absorbed, the token has entered price discovery territory where buyers are now forcing the market to search

ECB signals June policy showdown as markets weigh rate hike vs hold scenario

A member of the European Central Bank Governing Council has indicated that the upcoming June meeting will determine whether interest rates are raised or left unchanged, underscoring growing uncertainty over the next phase of eurozone monetary policy.ECB Governing Council member Kocher says the June meeting will decide between raising interest rates or keeping them unchanged. The statement reinforces uncertainty around the European Central Banks next policy move as inflation dynamics remain uneven.Markets are now reassessing European monetary policy expectations heading into mid-year. According to Kocher, cited in Jinshi reports, policymakers are effectively split between maintaining current restrictive levels and implementing another rate hike depending on incoming inflation and growth data. The comment highlights how the ECB is entering a decision-sensitive phase, where small shifts in macroeconomic indicators could determine whether policy tightening continues or stabilizes. Inflation uncertainty keeps ECB in a split-decision phase The ECBs dilemma reflects uneven inflation progress across the eurozone, where headline inflation has moderated in some areas while underlying price pressures remain sticky in services and wage-driven sectors. A potential rate hike would signal that policymakers still view inflation risks as elevated, while a hold decision would suggest confidence that prior tightening has been sufficient to guide inflation back toward target levels.
