Bitcoin price extended its increase above the USD 50,000 zone. However, the bulls failed to gain strength above USD 50,250 and BTC corrected lower. It is currently (05:23 UTC) consolidating gains and it might attempt a fresh break above USD 50,000.  Besides, most major altcoins are showing positive signs. ETH remained supported above USD 3,700 and it is back near USD 3,800. XRP is consolidating well above USD 1.25, and it could rise towards USD 1.30. Australia, Malaysia, Singapura & Afrika Selatan Bakal Menguji CBDC Untuk Transaksi Antarabangsa

Pengujian tersebut merupakan sebahagian daripada usaha terbaharu Project Dunbar oleh Bank for International Settlement (BIS) yang mahu mewujudkan prototaip platform bersama (shared platforms), membolehkan penyelesaian antarabangsa dilakukan.  Penjelasan melalui kenyataan rasmi pada hari ini: “Platform multi-CBDC ini akan membolehkan institusi kewangan untuk menjalankan transaksi secara langsung antara satu sama lain dalam bentuk matawang digital yang dikeluarkan oleh bank pusat yang terlibat, sekaligus menyingkirkan keperluan perantara dan mengurangkan tempoh masa dan kos transaksi.”  Projek ini diterajui oleh BIS Innovation Hub Singapura merancang untuk bekerjasama dengan beberapa rakan kongsi bagi membangunkan prototaip teknikal di platform teknologi lejar diedarkan yang berbeza.  Mereka juga akan meneroka pelbagai reka bentuk pentadbiran dan pengoperasian yang membolehkan bank pusat berkongsi infrastruktur CBDC, sekaligus menyokong roadmap G20 dalam meningkatkan keupayaan pembayaran rentas sempadan.  Dijangka prototaip teknikal platform bersama akan didedahkan di Singapore FinTech Festival pada November ini.  Selain daripada empat negara ini, satu lagi projek yang berbeza melibatkan penggunaan CBDC dalam pembayaran rentas sempadan sedang dalam penelitian melibatkan China, Hong Kong, Thailand, dan Emiriah Arab Bersatu (UAE).

Akhirnya, Pengasas BitConnect Didakwa Tipu RM8.3 Bilion!

Pada masa yang sama, SEC turut mendakwa seorang promoter, Glenn Arcaro kerana telah menerima lebih $24 juta dalam komisen rujukan (commision referral) melalui BitConnect.  Sementara itu, lagi lima individu yang terlibat dalam skim penipuan ini telah turut didakwa pada Mei lalu.  BitConnect diasaskan pada 2016, turut melancarkan token natif – BitConnect Coin yang dikatakan boleh ditukar kepada Bitcoin (BTC).  Melalui program pinjaman yang ditawarkan BitConnect Coin, sebanyak 40% keuntungan bulan dan 3,700% keuntungan tahunan mampu diperoleh menggunakan “volatility software trading bot”.  Sebaliknya berlaku apabila BitConnect Coin menjunam 92% pada 16 Januari 2018, menyebabkan para pelabur berputih mata.  Penipuan BitConnect ini juga disamakan sebagai skim ponzi kerana pelabur dibayar dengan wang yang diperoleh daripada pelabur baru.

Binance.Com Kini Dalam ‘Cengkaman’ Bank Pusat Singapura!

Khabar mendadak ini mengejutkan komuniti kripto di negara itu, seminggu selepas Binance melantik bekas ketua pegawai undang-undang Singapore Stock Exchange dan bekas pengarah kewangan korporat MAS sebagai CEO Binance Singapura.  Bagaimanapun, Binance.sg tidak tersenarai di dalam senarai peringatan pelabur MAS.  Jelas jurucakap Binance.sg, kedua-dua entiti tersebut merupakan bursa yang berbeza dan mereka tidak pernah menawarkan sebarang produk atau perkhidmatan melalui Binance.com:  “Binance.sg beroperasi dengan organisasi tersendiri, memiliki eksekutif tempatan dan pasukan pengurusan. Ia disokong oleh Vertex Venture Holdings, hanya menumpukan kepada ekosistem matawang kripto dan penyediaan perkhidmatan kepada penggunanya di Singapura.”  Binance.sg masih terselamat memandangkan ia beroperasi melalui Binance Asia Services Pte. Ltd.  Lebih menyakinkan pelabur, ia juga dikurniakan pengecualian daripada memiliki lesen di bawah Akta Perkhidmatan Pembayaran untuk tempoh tertentu susulan daripada permohonan perlesenan entiti tersebut masih dalam pertimbangan MAS.

Dogecoin 2.0 Terima Amaran Selepas Meroket Lebih 170%

DOGE2 merupakan copycat DOGE yang tampil mengaku sebagai ‘Upgraded Dogecoin’ dalam bentuk token kewangan desentralisasi (DeFi) di Binance Smart Chain (BSC).  Token ini dilancarkan pada awal Mei, disusuli dengan penyenaraian di beberapa bursa lain menyebabkan harganya meroket tinggi dalam masa yang singkat.  Kemunculan DOGE2 mengundang rentan dari pihak Dogecoin Foundation yang telah memberi amaran tegas kepada Dogecoin 2.0:  “Kami berharap pihak mereka pertimbangkan permintaan penukaran nama baru bagi projek tersebut supaya tidak melanggar hak dan reputasi projek Dogecoin. Kami teruja menantikan sebarang inovasi mereka pada masa akan datang.”  Untuk pengetahuan, Dogecoin Foundation sama sekali tidak terlibat dengan penubuhan DOGE2.  Persamaan dari segi namanya, Dogecoin-Dogecoin 2.0 berpotensi untuk menimbulkan kekeliruan dalam kalangan pelabur, terutama jika projek DOGE2 berhadapan dengan isu besar.  Dogecoin Foundation merupakan sebuah organisasi yang menyediakan sokongan terhadap pembangun dan projek-projek berkaitan Dogecoin. Organisasi ini juga turut menyenaraikan pengasas Ethereum, Vitalik Buterin dan Elon Musk sebagai ahli lembaga yang baharu.  Ketika penulisan, DOGE2 didagangkan pada $0.1146. 12-year-old without a bank account makes $400,000 selling ‘Weird Whales’ NFTs

Benyamin Ahmed, a 12-year-old British Pakistani boy has made around $400,000 after launching his very own non-fungible token (NFT) project, Weird Whales.  The young programmer wrapped up the project featuring 3,350 programmatically-generated pixel whales during school holidays and made a small fortune after his artwork went viral on Twitter. Ripple's Chris Larsen Urges Regulators to "Punish" Bitcoiners, Calls Vitalik Buterin "a Hero"

During his recent appearance on the “Investing in Integrity” podcast, Ripple co-founder Chris Larsen urged the Bitcoin community to “make the damn code change” to switch to environmentally-friendly proof-of-stake (PoS) from energy-intensive proof-of-work (PoW).   He, however, believes that a small cohort of elite developers, miners and exchange operators wont voluntarily implement such a drastic change, predicting that regulators will have to step in.   Describing Bitcoin as “the dirtiest” crypto on the planet, Larsen says that governments will have to cut off zero-emission credits to companies that have exposure to it. He also believes that will move to take away some money transmission licenses.  Larsen, whos being sued by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, describes the narrative that using more energy will lead to a greener future as “propaganda”  The regulators should punish this kind of nonsense. I think they should. Take away money transmitter licenses. That will get them in line.  The Ripple boss maintains that there is no such thing as green mining, and renewable energy can be utilized for making “green steelmaking, green aluminum” and “green concrete” among other things.

Solana Flips Dogecoin to Become Seventh-Largest Cryptocurrency

In brief  Solana is now the seventh-largest cryptocurrency by market cap, flipping Dogecoin to take its spot.  SOL has multiplied in value over the last few weeks, rising 300% over the last 30 days.  SOL, the native cryptocurrency of the Solana blockchain, has moved up another spot to claim seventh on the list of the most valuable cryptocurrencies by total market cap, per data from CoinGecko. In doing so, Solana has flipped leading meme coin Dogecoin (DOGE).  Solana has seen an incredible rise in value in recent weeks, climbing over 300% over the last 30 days. SOL has repeatedly set new all-time high price levels during that span, vaulting from about $35 per coin on August 1 to a new peak price above $136 set on Tuesday. Solana is now up 23% over the last 24 hours, continuing its propulsive rise of late, and just passed the $100 mark for the first time on Monday. KuCoin Labs Releases Q2 Report Confirming Leading Role of DeFi and NFT in Blockchain Development

KuCoin Labs released its Quarterly Crypto Industry Report, which covered developments and trends in the blockchain and crypto space. According to the report, decentralized or non-custodial exchanges are overtaking centralized competitors in terms of the volume of users. This European Region Sees Highest Crypto Illicit Activities After Africa: Chainalysis

Chainalysis, the crypto data analytic firm released a preview of its 2021 Geography of Cryptocurrency report which is scheduled to release later this year. The preview blog focused on the use of cryptocurrencies for illicit activities and which countries and regions see the most of it. Africa topped the list of regions that see the highest exposure to illicit addresses followed by Eastern Europe.  Source: Chainalysis  Eastern Europe has a much larger crypto-economy when compared to Latin America and Africa. The report highlighted that Eastern Europe is the only region where for $400 million in crypto transactions 0.5% of the total transactions were believed to be towards illicit addresses.  Western Europe tops the list in terms of crypto-assets sent to illicit addresses followed by Eastern Europe and North America. The following graph also highlights that the Western European regions fall most prey to scams as the highest percentage of funds sent out to illicit addresses comprises of scams followed by darknet addresses.
