Virtual Platforms and the Metaverse

For the foreseeable future, most of us will interface with the budding Metaverse via consumer-facing, interactive and immersive virtual platforms. These will be accessible from a variety of devices, such as a web browser and VR headset, and it‘s here that we’ll hangout, buy things and show them off, collaborate and build, learn and perform, work and relax, consume in and experience the Metaverse. Today, the most popular virtual platforms are Roblox and Minecraft, and, to a lesser extent, Grand Theft Auto Online and Fortnite Creative Mode (as theyre just a subset of their master games). And just as the leading indicators of the mobile internet were smartphone penetration and usage, alongside the number of app developers and their total revenues, the growth of these virtual platforms is easy to track: total active users and engagement, as well as total active-user spending, and developer revenues. All of these are way up over the past decade — and, at least thus far, sustainably so post-pandemic. It‘s no coincidence that all of the leading virtual platforms today originated in gaming. Games have long been the most complex, scaled, and diverse simulations, as no other consumer-grade experience required a comparable amount of computing power. And

Elon Musk Sees Bitcoin Price Reaching $69,000

Even though the Bitcoin price is still 4.5% away from reaching the meme-worthy $69,000 level at the time of writing, this is not stopping Tesla CEO Elon Musk from tweeting about the raunchy number. The eccentric entrepreneur posted a picture of a couple staring at the prices of Bitcoin and Ether from their bed, pushing the two largest coins slightly higher. As reported by U.Today, Bitcoin peaked just above $67,000 before bulls lost some steam. It is currently changing hands just below $65,000. Notably, Musk missed the opportunity to mention the $69,420 price tag that could potentially break the internet, according to some crypto influencers. The number 420 is now commonly associated with Tesla after its boss tweeted about taking the company private at $420 (and got sued by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission for doing that). April 20 has since been declared Elon Musk Day by Teslas cult-like community. The number 69 also appears to hold some special significance for Musk based on his earlier tweets. Last October, the price of the Tesla Model S was changed to (you guessed it) $69,420. Its safe to say that the cryptocurrency community can expect more cory 69/420 jokes from the centibillionaire. Robinhood Rival Public Adds Shiba Inu Trading To Its Platform

Stock-trading app Public has joined the Shiba Inu Mania. The New York-based firm has revealed that it has added support for SHIB, the latest dog-themed token that everyone is barking about. Public Now Supports Shiba Inu Public announced Wednesday that it had added “Dogecoin killer” Shiba Inu on its trading platform. Public was unveiled in 2019 with the intention of competing with Robinhood by attracting newbies and young investors with zero-fee trading and a mobile-first design. However, it has a more visible social component in contrast to its competitors Robinhood and WeBull. Public raised approximately $310 million in a financing round, lifting its valuation to over $1 billion. Public previously supported trading of exchange-traded funds and stocks but made its crypto foray in October by listing 10 crypto assets including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash, Cardano, Dogecoin, among others. After today‘s news, the brokerage company’s users can now be able to buy, sell and hold Shiba Inu. Last month, Shiba Inu earned a listing on Coinbase‘s web exchange. And just days ago, the cryptocurrency was also listed on ZebPay, India’s oldest cryptocurrency, as well as Turkeys largest and oldest exchange BTCTurk. 3 Reasons Bitcoin’s ATH Looks More Bullish Now Than in April 2021

Bitcoin has just broken its former all-time high and surged above $67K. Lets see why the market might be more bullish now compared to mid-April this year when the previous ATH was set. It‘s been a wild few months for Bitcoin’s price. It went all the way up from around $65K in April, down to below $30K in July, and back to a new all-time high today – October 20th. Many are drawing comparisons between the market dynamics in April and now, and as BTC sits in price discovery, its worth looking at a few reasons for which things might be a lot more bullish currently compared to before. Retail FOMO Is Not Here First things first, one of the main catalysts of parabolic advances in the BTC price have always been swarms of retail traders rushing in to buy bitcoin at the last hour. This is what‘s commonly referred to as “retail FOMO,” and we’ve seen it in 2017 and in April this year – data from Google Trends supports it: Chart by Google Trends The above chart from the past five years shows that back in December 2017, when Bitcoin peaked at around $20K, searches for the cryptocurrency reached an all-time high. THE TURKISH TRIBAL WAR AGAINST BITCOIN

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said, “We are in a war against cryptocurrencies,” on September 18, 2021. Merriam-Webster defines war as “a state or period of fighting between countries or groups.” I am guessing that the war Erdoğan mentions here is a war between Erdoğans tribe and Bitcoin, as the citizens of the country are embracing bitcoin more than ever. On January 15, 2021, the number of people investing in the Turkish Stock Market went past 2 million for the first time. By April 24, 2021, there were more than 5 million users registered to the two biggest Turkish bitcoin exchanges. One would wonder how a 12-year-old technology manages to attract more people than the Istanbul Stock Exchange that has been active since 1985 with the full support of government institutes. The answer lies in the Turkish lira and the reputation of the central banking system of Turkey. The Turkish Central Bank is identified as an independent bank. Unfortunately, the banks independence is very questionable. Turkish President Erdoğan appears to be acting as a chairman in disguise for the bank. The central bank had a total of 21 chairs between 1931 and 2019. This gives the chairs an average time of

Forever Has Fallen: Murder, mystery and digital immortality – the game of games

Back in 2018 he first had a germ of an idea to create an immersive experience with this rattling storyline. The thriller is told online through podcasts but there are clues peppered through this six-part audio feast which leads to online escape rooms, websites, easter eggs, puzzles and even interaction with the characters; the latter is provided through the medium of AI bots. There is also a Discord channel where hardcore fans interact, even after they have finished the experience. Typically, most people take about two to three hours per episode, but some have completed them in as little as twenty minutes.Asked if Forever has Fallen is a group game, Lycos is unsure. “People are playing it both ways. We thought originally it might be an individual experience but as we released the different podcasts, we found it has become more like a virtual board game.” The storyline is gritty, set in the near future, full of familiar faces, but also futuristic predictions (hello madam President!), laced with swearing, gruesome murders and modern tech. A tech billionaire, Karl-Axel Mattiasson, is hunted for murder and fraud. His company, The Forever Social, is a vast social media engine holding millions of peoples digital lives, is
