Pi Network rolls out Desktop 0.6.4 as PI price slips below $0.08

摘要:Pi Network launches Desktop 0.6.4 with easier SoloHost access and stronger app security, while PI price struggles below $0.08 despite Protocol 28.

Pi Network has introduced Desktop version 0.6.4, removing the need for manual router configuration when accessing SoloHost applications remotely, while its native PI token continues trading below $0.08.

According to the projects October 22 announcement, the release introduces a simpler remote connection, tighter controls over application access and improvements to the desktop interface. The team confirmed that Mainnet successfully upgraded to Protocol 28 on October 16, following weeks of preparation.

Pi Network makes SoloHost easier to access remotely

The biggest change concerns how Pioneers connect to applications running on their personal computers.

SoloHost allows users to host supported applications, including AI tools, on their own machines and access them through Pi Browser on a mobile device.

Pi Desktop version 0.6.4 has been released!

The update makes remote access to SoloHost apps much easier by eliminating the need to configure home routers. Pi Desktop now handles the connection setup, making it simpler for Pioneers to access SoloHost apps, such as local AI…

Previously, some users needed to adjust router settings or open network ports before remote connections would work. Certain home networks could prevent that process altogether.

With Desktop 0.6.4, the software establishes the remote connection without requiring users to make those changes themselves.

The feature remains optional. Pioneers who already configured remote access can move to the updated connection by selecting “Reconnect” in the remote access interface.

Pi Network introduced SoloHost in beta during Pi2Day 2026 as a way for developers to distribute applications that users could operate on their own computers.

Subsequently, the project released improvements to SoloHost applications in September through Desktop 0.6.3, adding application rankings, management tools and checks designed to improve reliability.

The latest update addresses a different problem: connecting remotely without requiring users to change their home networking equipment.

Pi Desktop 0.6.4 adds security checks for applications

The release introduces checks intended to prevent SoloHost applications from accessing files and network resources outside their permitted environment.

According to the development team, the software can verify whether an application is limited to its own files and network before installation and whenever it starts.

Similar checks take place when developers first publish applications, helping identify packages that fail the required restrictions before they appear in the SoloHost catalog.

The safeguards are intended to limit an applications ability to reach unrelated computer files, information belonging to another application or the Pi Node itself.

However, Pi Network cautioned that the additional protections do not remove every risk associated with installing third-party software.

“Pioneers should still assess each app or package on their own and install them at their own risk,” the team said.

Desktop 0.6.4 includes smaller interface changes affecting the Pi Node open-port display.

The announcement did not provide figures showing how many users had installed the release, activated remote access or passed the new application checks.

Pi Network confirms Protocol 28 Mainnet upgrade

Alongside the desktop release, the development team confirmed that Pi Mainnet completed its Protocol 28 upgrade on October 16.

The upgrade improves how the blockchain handles delayed transaction data and gives developers more flexibility when maintaining smart contracts.

Developers can update groups of smart contracts together and make changes to stored information more safely as applications evolve, according to the project.

Pi Network had instructed Mainnet node operators to update their software by October 13 ahead of the scheduled activation.

As crypto.news previously examined the node deadline, completing software installation and activating a protocol are separate stages of a network upgrade.

The October 22 confirmation establishes the teams stated completion date, although the announcement does not disclose the number of participating nodes running the upgraded software.

Recent coverage of PIs performance highlighted the absence of published figures measuring transactions generated specifically by the new developer capabilities.

Pi Network has scheduled an ecosystem summit for November, with sessions planned for November 17–19 to showcase applications and developer activity.

PI price remains under pressure despite software updates

The announcements have not coincided with a sustained recovery in PIs market price.

On October 25, PI traded near $0.0759, down approximately 2.1% over 24 hours and 12.99% during the previous month. Its market capitalization stood around $857 million, with daily trading volume near $3.79 million.

The token remained below resistance at $0.08 after briefly approaching $0.081 during the week.

Technical indicators continued to favor sellers. The Know Sure Thing indicator stood at -101.2920, above its signal line of -105.3072, while Bull Bear Power remained negative at -0.00510.

Analyst Crypto With Gopal identified a tightening triangle, with support around $0.075–$0.077 and resistance between $0.080 and $0.084. The analyst warned that losing support could expose PI to approximately $0.067.

The daily chart placed further support near $0.070 and $0.060, while resistance above $0.08 stood at $0.09 and $0.10.
