Indian Rupee: Policy trade-offs under energy shock – Societe Generale

Societe Generale analysts Kunal Kundu and Galvin Chia argue that India faces rising inflation and external risks as higher Oil prices and a weaker Rupee (INR) interact. They highlight the Reserve Bank of Indias (RBI) shift in stance, the risk of an inflation–FX loop, widening external deficits, and a narrowing India–United States (US) yield buffer that could justify calibrated tightening to stabilise the currency. RBI weighs inflation, FX and Oil risks “RBI kept the repo rate at 5.25% with a neutral stance in April 2026, despite prior 125 bps easing, acknowledging rising risks from energy prices, supply disruptions, and market volatility.” “The policy stance has shifted from ”looking through“ supply shocks to selectively ”leaning against“ risks to inflation expectations in a weaker global growth environment.” “Currency depreciation alongside the oil shock risks a self-reinforcing inflation–FX loop, where higher import costs lift inflation, tighten financial conditions, and amplify currency weakness.” “India‘s high oil dependence (~90% imports) makes the currency a key transmission channel, with external balances deteriorating rapidly, as reflected in April’s $28.4bn trade deficit.” “The vulnerability has broadened to external financing, with the CAD likely to widen toward ~2% of GDP (and potentially beyond), increasing reliance on capital inflows and making depreciation more destabilising.”

Silver Price Forecast: XAG/USD consolidates with bearish undertone below key moving averages

On the daily chart, XAG/USD holds a neutral near-term bias, trading above both the 50-day and 200-day Simple Moving Averages (SMAs) at $75.87 and $66.37, yet still below the 100-day SMA at $81.42, which caps recovery attempts for now. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) at 48.11 sits near the midline, hinting at lacklustre directional conviction, while the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) remains slightly negative, suggesting fading bullish momentum after the recent pullback. On the downside, immediate support emerges at the 50-day SMA at $75.87. A clear break lower would expose the 200-day SMA near $66.37, ahead of more distant horizontal support at $55.00. BitMine lost $8 billion on ETH but Tom Lee still made tens of millions

Shares of BitMine Immersion Technologies, trailing 12 months. Source: TradingViewTens of millions for Tom Lee Five months after those strategic advisor warrants, BitMine asked stockholders to approve a new package for Lee, who had assumed the chairman role. Despite BitMines common stock languishing 79% below its 52-week high at the time, a majority of voting power agreed on January 15, 2026. The package was worth up to $95 million in cash over five years. BitMine paid $15 million upfront and committed to $20 million more in fixed payments over four years. The remaining $60 million unlocks only if BitMine hits annual revenue hurdles. Targets escalate from $200 million in fiscal 2027 to $500 million in fiscal 2030. In addition to the cash, Lee received 1.5 million time-vesting restricted stock units and 4.5 million performance units. Performance units vest at $125 and $250 share price targets. Curiously, BitMine‘s board justified the lavish deal by calling Lee a uniquely qualified leader. In actual fact, the company’s ETH treasury was already underwater by more than $4 billion at the time of the January vote, and losses have doubled since then. Compensation for me, dilution for thee BitMines common stock has lost 30% of its value year-to-date, and 88% since its 52-week

TrapDoor Malware Campaign Targets Aptos, Solana, and Sui Developer Ecosystems

TrapDoor malware spread through fake crypto developer packages across registries.Attackers targeted SSH keys, AWS tokens, and wallet credentials in builds worldwide.Researchers linked coordinated uploads to Aptos, Sui, and Solana tooling ecosystems. Researchers have uncovered a coordinated malware campaign that targets cryptocurrency developers through fake software packages spread across major coding registries. The operation, named TrapDoor, focused on developer environments connected to blockchain ecosystems such as Aptos, Sui, and Solana. Security analysts warned that the campaign aimed to steal sensitive credentials from machines used in crypto development workflows. Researchers from Socket Security discovered more than 34 malicious packages distributed across npm, PyPI, and Crates.io. Altogether, the campaign involved more than 384 package versions. The attackers designed the software to appear legitimate by mimicking popular development utilities and blockchain tooling. Malware Targets Developer Credentials The malicious packages targeted high-value information stored on developer systems. The malware searched for SSH keys, AWS credentials, GitHub access tokens, wallet keystores, and browser login databases. Consequently, compromised systems could expose both personal and corporate infrastructure tied to crypto projects. Researchers identified several suspicious Rust packages on Crates.io, including sui-framework-helpers, move-analyzer-build, and sui-move-build-helper. Additionally, npm packages carried names such as crypto-credential-scanner and wallet-security-checker. PyPI packages included eth-security-auditor and defi-risk-scanner. The attackers relied on

XRP Crowd Fear Deepens As Santiment Points To Possible Rebound

XRP crowd sentiment has deteriorated to its weakest level in three weeks, according to a Santiment Intelligence chart shared on X, putting the token back in what the analytics firm described as a historically relevant “FUD zone.” Santiment said the ratio of positive to negative social media commentary around XRP has dropped to just 1.1 bullish comments for every bearish comment. In the chart, the positive-to-negative sentiment ratio sits near 1.104 on May 25, close to the lower fear threshold marked by Santiment, while XRPs price line hovered around the mid-$1.30 area. “XRP‘s crowd sentiment has swung sharply negative again, with the ratio of positive to negative commentary dropping to just 1.1 bullish comments for every 1 bearish comment,” Santiment wrote. “Historically, this kind of fear and skepticism has often acted as a contrarian signal for XRP’s price.” What This Means For XRP Price The point of the signal is not that bearish commentary has overtaken bullish commentary outright. Rather, it shows that the balance of social discussion has compressed sharply toward parity. For a token that often trades heavily on retail sentiment, legal narratives, exchange-flow speculation and broader altcoin risk appetite, a sharp decline in crowd confidence can matter because it may indicate
