A quantum roadmap would push Bitcoin much higher: Charles Edwards

Bitcoin developers need to swallow their pride and outline a clear plan to harden the blockchain against quantum computing attacks, according to Capriole Investments founder Charles Edwards. He says the day they finally bite the bullet, the price will respond very quickly. “If the Bitcoin core team says in two or three months: ‘this is our roadmap, we’re gonna solve it in the next two years, these are the rough steps we‘ll take,’ that would be amazing news,” Edwards tells Cointelegraph on Trade Secrets. “I think that would discount a lot of the risk pretty much overnight,” Edwards says. The question of whether Bitcoin developers should modify the network to make its cryptography quantum-resistant has sparked heated debate within the Bitcoin community, with some arguing that major changes could conflict with Bitcoins core ethos. Others claim quantum computers are many years away, and a rushed cure could be worse than the disease. Charles Edwards says a clear roadmap could push price up “very quickly” Edwards often highlights the risk of quantum computing to Bitcoin to his 132,800 X followers. The fear is that, one day, powerful enough quantum computers could break the cryptography that protects the Bitcoin network and potentially compromise Bitcoin wallets. The uncertainty has

Here‘s Why Paramount’s Decision To Delay WBD Merger Could Cost It Over $1 Billion

Topline Paramount Skydance said in a Friday court filing it agreed to push back its merger with Warner Bros. Discovery, which has been challenged by 12 states, to 2027, making the concession despite the fact it could incur millions of dollars in fees for not finalizing the deal by the end of September. The merger is valued at roughly $110 billion. Photo by Jakub Porzycki/NurPhoto via Getty Images Key Facts Paramount voluntarily agreed to delay the merger until June 2027 or until five days after the judge makes a decision on the case, whichever comes first. Judge Araceli Martinez-Olguin issued a temporary restraining order against the merger on Monday, giving her two weeks to determine if she would issue a more stark order that pauses the deal indefinitely while the lawsuit against the merger plays out in court. The delayed merger could cost Paramount big time, as under the terms of the deal it will have to pay a $0.25 per day “ticking fee” per share to Warner Bros. shareholders every day if the deal is not closed by Sept. 30—that fee amounts to $650 million per quarter or $7 million per day. Paramount said its decision to delay the merger allows it to face litigation quickly in

Strategy Demands Corporate Bitcoin Transparency With MSTR-BTC Dashboard Revealing $54.88B In Holdings

Michael Saylor didn‘t just announce a dashboard. He published a balance sheet with an address. Strategy’s new MSTR-BTC interface, unveiled Thursday, is less a tool for shareholders and more a declaration: corporate Bitcoin holders no longer get to hide behind opaque treasury disclosures. The numbers, pulled straight from the blockchain, are unambiguous. The company holds 843,775 BTC valued at $54.88 billion, priced at $65,035 per coin, according to the original report. This isn‘t a marketing splash. It’s a structural shift in how public companies can verify digital asset reserves. The dashboard doesnt rely on quarterly attestations or delayed SEC filings. It ties the treasury directly to on-chain data and capital structure metrics, displaying gross reserves of $58.1 billion, net reserves of $35.88 billion, and a market-based net asset value (mNAV) ratio of exactly 1.00x. For CFOs watching from the sidelines, that level of granularity changes the conversation. A Corporate Treasury Built on Public Verification Strategy‘s move arrives at a moment when institutional Bitcoin adoption is accelerating, yet regulatory uncertainty still hangs over how companies account for digital assets. The dashboard’s numbers tell a specific story: year-to-date BTC yield sits at 5.8%, representing a gain of 39,325 BTC — roughly $2.56 billion in dollar

FILE Price Prediction: Bears Losing Steam at the Lower Band — But Every Moving Average Is a Ceiling

Rongchai Wang Jul 24, 2026 09:33 FILE is pinned at $0.73 with the entire SMA stack stacked above as resistance and smart money quietly leaning 58.7% long in derivatives. The higher-probability near-term play is a bounce toward $0…. The Immediate Setup FILE is clinging to $0.73 like a fighter covering up in the corner. The 24-hour range has been a miserly $0.02 — from $0.72 to $0.74 — and that extreme compression tells you the market is coiled, not dead. Whats worth watching is where that compression is happening: right on top of the lower Bollinger Band, which is historically where trapped sellers exhaust themselves and short-covering bounces ignite. The MACD histogram has hit zero — the bears aren‘t pushing harder, but buyers haven’t stepped up with any conviction either. Momentum has flatlined at the worst possible place: below every meaningful moving average. The 7-day at $0.74, the 20-day at $0.76, the 50-day at $0.77, and the 200-day sitting all the way up at $0.96 — that‘s a stacked ceiling of overhead supply that will chew through any rally attempt until proven otherwise. The one technical spark in this setup is the Stochastic oscillator curling up from the low 20s. With %K at 29 crossing

Ethereum Bear Market Bottom Is In: Analyst Eyes $7K Long-Term

Some traders still see a rally toward $2,000 as a potential bull trap before ETH makes one final move lower. Pseudonymous crypto trader NoName says Ethereum has just crossed into the price zone where its bear market has historically bottomed, pointing to four straight lower highs as proof the downtrend has run its course. The trader, who is buying through the dip with a long-term target of $7,000, argues that the same crowd psychology that made ETH everyones favorite trade at $4,900 is now working against it below $2,000. Mapping Out the Bottom Zone In a post shared Friday, NoName laid out Ethereums decline through four descending peaks: $4,957, then $3,400, then $2,460, then $1,950, calling it a textbook downtrend. Each top landed lower than the one before it, and the trader said that sequence has now pushed price into the $1,300 to $1,900 range, the zone treated as the eventual floor. The reasoning is less technical than psychological, with the analyst noting that ETH at $4,900 was a favorite while ETH under $2,000 gets called a dead chain, even though nothing about the network changed. “That‘s not logic, that’s psychology, and psychology marks bottoms,” NoName wrote, adding that the climb back up will likely

Bruce Buffer Reflects On The “Biggest” Month Of Work With UFC And FIFA

EAST RUTHERFORD, NEW JERSEY – JULY 19: American announcer Bruce Buffer announces before the FIFA World Cup 2026 Final match between Spain and Argentina at New York New Jersey Stadium on July 19, 2026 in East Rutherford, New Jersey. (Photo by Sebastian Widmann – FIFA/FIFA via Getty Images) FIFA via Getty Images Five days after the 2026 FIFA World Cup concluded, UFC announcer Bruce Buffer is back home reflecting on a monumental, month-long stretch of assignments. Before gracing the world‘s largest sporting event with his iconic voice, Buffer’s work took him to two titanic UFC events. On June 14, the promotion held their milestone event “UFC Freedom 250” on the White House lawn. This was followed by Conor McGregors return from a five-year layoff in Las Vegas on July 11 to culminate International Fight Week – the MMA equivalent of the Super Bowl. Looking back at his involvement across both disciplines, Buffer said, “The last month has been like the epitome of the biggest shows that I could ever think of doing.” “Beyond the Super Bowl, of course, which is on my bucket list for the future,” He continued. “It was an honor to be on the White House lawn. The fights that night were

Crypto home invasions jump 20x as wrench-attack exposure hits $124 million

CertiK tracked just one crypto-related home invasion in the first half of 2025. A year later, its publicly verifiable tally had surged 20-fold. Physical-coercion crimes, often called wrench attacks, bypass digital defenses by threatening a holder or relative until someone surrenders access or moves funds. The change turns a crime statistic into a custody-design problem: a secure key is not enough if one frightened person can release all the value immediately. In CertiKs H1 2026 wrench-attack report, released July 23, across all attack types, the security firm counted 52 verified incidents, up 33.3% from 39 a year earlier. It recorded roughly $124.1 million in financial exposure from losses and ransom demands, compared with about $10.5 million in H1 2025, an 11.8-fold increase. Within the dataset, Europe accounted for 39 cases and France for 33, a clear concentration in the visible record. Custody has to survive coercion A hardware wallet or offline seed phrase can still be bypassed as a sole safeguard when a holder is forced to unlock a wallet, reveal recovery material, or authorize a transaction. The first priority is therefore to eliminate unilateral authority over significant funds. CertiK recommends multisignature or multiparty computation with geographically distributed signers so no person at the scene can

On-chain data suggests Bitcoin has yet to confirm a bull market reversal

Bitcoin [BTC] faced minor losses in recent days of trading. Its spot ETF inflow streak, the longest in nine months, has just been broken by a $225.1 millionoutflow on Thursday, July 23. Bitcoin was still trading within a long-term bearish price trend. The bulls inability to break out past the $67klocal supply zone has given control of the market back to the bears. Heres what that means for investors Bitcoin MVRV and realized losses point toward THIS Source: CryptoQuant The MVRV ratio, when above 1, shows that the aggregate holder is still in profit. Historically, the depths of bear markets have only been reached when the MVRV falls below 1. Crypto analyst Rei Researcher pointed out that this was not the case so far in the current cycle. The market was far from bullish overheated territory, but not quite yet at bear market bottom. Onchain data showed that the cyclical capitulation might not have ended yet. The recent bounce may have offered some long-term holders an opportunity to reduce exposure ahead of any further weakness. Source: CryptoQuant Analyst The Chess Onchain observed that the Bitcoin supply in profit was currently at 57.5%. The 30-day averageof the long-term holder SOPR must reclaim 1.0 to reliably mark the end of a

Trumps New Tariffs Explained: What They Mean for Markets and Prices

Trumps new tariffs now cover nearly all US imports, raising questions about prices, trade and global markets. The White House cites forced labor concerns, but critics argue the tariffs serve a broader trade strategy.Higher import costs could fuel inflation, influence Fed policy and shape sentiment across stock and crypto markets. President Donald Trumps new tariffs took effect Friday, expanding US import duties to goods from 60 trading partners and covering about 99.4% of all imports into the country after a temporary global levy expired. The administration said the measures target countries that failed to curb imports made with forced labor, though critics argue Trump is using the policy to pursue broader trade goals. The new duties range from 10% to 12.5% and affect some of the United States largest trading partners. The policy could raise import costs, reshape global supply chains and influence inflation, financial markets and cryptocurrency prices. Why Is Trump Imposing These Tariffs? The tariffs replace a temporary 10% levy that expired Friday after the Supreme Court struck down many of Trumps earlier global tariffs, ruling that he had exceeded his emergency powers. The decision forced the administration to find another legal basis to keep broad import duties in place. The administration then launched
