Economic calendar May 28: Traders brace as GDP, PCE and oil inventories collide

Traders face a dense US data slate today, with the economic calendar clustering several market‑moving releases into a narrow afternoon window. The US economic calendar today: a high‑impact cluster The economic calendar for 28 May 2026 concentrates key macro releases in the US afternoon session. Consequently, liquidity and volatility risks are likely to rise around the publication times, as multiple asset classes react simultaneously. Equity indices, US Treasuries, the US dollar and energy benchmarks may all re‑price in response to the data pack. Because the releases address both growth and inflation, they speak directly to expectations for future Federal Reserve policy. Therefore, intraday traders will be watching not just the headline figures, but also the interaction between them. Revised Q1 GDP: growth reassessed at 14:30 The first major entry on the US economic calendar is the revised Q1 GDP report, scheduled for 14:30. Consensus points to growth of 2.0%, up sharply from the previous estimate of 0.5%. If confirmed, such a revision would significantly alter the narrative on how strong the US economy was entering the second quarter. From a macro perspective, a higher GDP print reinforces the idea of resilient underlying activity. Yet for markets, the interpretation is more nuanced. Stronger growth can support earnings

April Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) inflation matched the 3.8% year-over-year forecast, its highest reading since May 2023. Bitcoin (BTC) slid toward $73,300 as the print pushed the Feds preferred gauge further from its 2% target. Core PCE rose 3.3% on the year, also in line with forecasts. Headline PCE matched the 3.8% consensus forecast at its highest annual level since May 2023. Core PCE, which excludes food and energy, climbed to 3.3% from a year earlier. The reading sits at its highest level since October 2023 and nearly doubles the Feds 2% target. Monthly figures gave doves a small win. Core PCE rose 0.2% in April, below both the 0.3% forecast and the prior months pace. Personal income was flat for the month, missing the 0.4% consensus, while consumer spending rose 0.5%. Good or Bad? Cardano Whales Control 67.5% of the Total ADA Supply

Wallets holding at least one million ADA reached their biggest accumulation level since 2017. Cardano (ADA) has crashed more than 70% in the past year. In 2026 alone, the crypto asset has lost 30% of its value. Multiple attempts to break above the $0.25 level have failed. Even so, millionaire ADA wallets have been steadily accumulating the asset, which suggests that some large holders remain active despite the decline. ADA Millionaire Wallets Reach Record Levels Wallets holding at least 1 million tokens have collectively increased their holdings to 25.11 billion ADA. According to Santiment, this is the highest level recorded since December 2017. These wallets now control 67.5% of the total ADA supply, which is the highest concentration since July 2020. The analytics platform found that the accumulation by large holders is generally seen as a sign of confidence from key stakeholders with significant exposure to the crypto asset. Santiment added that, as a long-term indicator, the trend could be viewed as bullish for investors willing to hold patiently. The renewed accumulation comes at a time when Cardano is still battling long-running concerns around its ecosystem growth. Critics often argue that the network has struggled to build the same level of ecosystem traction seen among its

Polymarket has clarified that it is not introducing mandatory Know Your Customer checks across its main prediction market platform despite renewed scrutiny over compliance and restricted-jurisdiction access.Polymarket said KYC checks are limited to a new beta product and will not apply to its main prediction market platform. The clarification followed reports that regulators have increased pressure over sanctions compliance, restricted market access and anonymous trading activity.Brazil and Spain have already moved against Polymarket operations as U.S. regulators continue examining insider trading and market integrity risks tied to prediction markets. In a post on X, Polymarket vice president of engineering Josh Stevens said identity verification applies only to a new beta product currently being tested with a limited group of users. False. Stevens explained that “no KYC is being added to any part of existing polymarket.com with this launch” and later added that the beta product would not require KYC once testing ends. The clarification comes less than a day after a report from The Information suggested Polymarket had explored mandatory verification measures. Stevens also responded “no” when asked whether KYC could eventually become mandatory on the main platform. Nevertheless, regulatory pressure around prediction markets has continued to build across several regions, especially as authorities question whether geoblocking

Bitcoin drops out of the top 10 largest assets by market cap

Top assets by market cap. At press time, Bitcoin was changing hands at $72,753, with the $72,000–$73,000 area as the next critical support. To plunge even further, to spot number 14, the digital asset would need to decline just 10% more and lose $147 billion in market cap. Bitcoin bleeds market cap Indeed, in contrast to Bitcoin, precious metals and semiconductor stocks have delivered some of the strongest gains this year. Gold, for example, surged to a record $5,600 per ounce in January before pulling back to around $4,451, while silver climbed as high as $120 per ounce and currently trades at around $73. With Bitcoin dropping, silver is now actually the worlds fifth-largest asset by market capitalization, with a market value of $4.15 trillion. Looking ahead, some analysts project that precious metals are up for another rally, as gold could hit $7,000. As for semiconductor names, the artificial intelligence (AI) boom has continued to outperform crypto markets by a large margin. Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) is still the second most valuable asset, just below gold, valued at $5.16 trillion. Whats more, CEO Jensen Huang is confident the number is going to rise even more in the next few years. Spots number three and four are occupied by

WIF Price Prediction: Critical $0.20 Break Determines Next 15% Move

The Current Technical Picture WIF sits trapped between key technical levels, with the 1.04% daily gain doing little to resolve the underlying consolidation pattern. The meme coin hovers near $0.199, just below the critical $0.20 resistance zone where multiple moving averages converge. Trading volume of $2.4 million on Binance spot reflects the current lack of conviction from both buyers and sellers. The RSI at 47.43 shows neutral momentum while the MACD histogram remains flat at zero, indicating neither bulls nor bears have gained control. This sideways action typically precedes significant directional moves in volatile assets like meme coins, where patience often gets rewarded with clear breakouts or breakdowns. Critical Price Zones The $0.20 level represents the immediate battleground, housing the 20-day moving average alongside other key technical confluences. A sustained break above $0.205 would target the upper Bollinger Band near $0.24, representing a potential 20% upside move from current levels. Full WIF price, calculator & analysis Conversely, failure to hold above $0.19 opens the door to the lower Bollinger Band at $0.17, marking a 15% decline. States have lost $1 billion due to prediction markets: Gaming association

The American Gaming Association now estimates that states have missed out on more than $1 billion in tax revenue due to the rise of prediction markets. In an appearance on CNBCs “Squawk Box” detailing the estimate, association president and CEO Bill Miller said that the lost money has consequences for communities due to the taxes states collect on regulated gambling. “It‘s about states and tribes that are losing literally a billion dollars today in state and tribal revenue that would otherwise go to fund important community projects,” he said, referencing the consequences it has on Native American casinos’ revenues too. Miller — whose organization is an advocate for casino operators, manufacturers and employees — said prediction markets amount to “backdoor sports betting.” The only difference, in his view, is that they arent regulated in the same way as sportsbooks. States have made a similar argument to Miller, arguing that prediction markets sports event contracts amount to sports gambling and thus should be regulated by their local frameworks. However, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission views these contracts as falling within its jurisdiction to regulate swaps and derivatives. Mistral AI data center: $830m debt funds near Paris build

Mistral AI data center plans are turning the French model maker into something much bigger. With $830 million in debt financing lined up, the company is no longer just training and selling AI models. It is building the physical machinery behind them in France, exploring custom chip designs, and pushing deeper into enterprise software with a new platform called Vibe. That shift matters because AI is no longer only a software race. It is also a compute race, a financing race, and increasingly a sovereignty race. By tying together infrastructure, chips, and enterprise tools, Mistral is making a clear bid to control more of the stack inside Europe. The first proof point is concrete: a dedicated site near Paris, loaded with Nvidia hardware and designed to give Mistral more direct control over the compute it can offer customers. Mistral secures debt financing for its first dedicated data center Mistral AI has secured $830 million in debt financing to build its first dedicated data center near Paris, marking a major step for a company best known for its generative AI models. The choice of debt is notable. In practical terms, it gives Mistral fresh capital for a heavy infrastructure buildout without diluting existing shareholders. It also

Phillies Cut Former Cubs Shortstop After Just 35 Games

The Philadelphia Phillies might be interested in shuffling their roster this season as they gear up for a potential playoff push, but they dont have many options. Though president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski is always liable to seek help from outside of the organization, the teams minor-league depth is markedly thin, particularly after the team opened this season by promoting Justin Crawford and Andrew Painter to the big-league squad. “MLB Pipeline recently released their Top 30 prospects for each club. They ranked the Phillies‘ system 20th,” Cole Weintraub wrote for NBC Sports Philadelphia earlier this year. “In other words, it’s thin.” Philadelphia Phillies Cut Ties With Switch-Hitting Shortstop Sergio Alcantara The Phillies only possess two prospects ranked within the overall top-100: shortstop Aidan Miller and pitcher Gage Wood. And Miller has been struggling with a black issues this year, halting his development. And now, even with their top infield prospect sidelined and their overall minor-league depth being tested, the Phillies have cut ties with a player who seemed to be among their most promising infield options. According to the official transactions log, the Phillies released shortstop Sergio Alcantara shortly after signing him to a minor-league contract.
