FTX Hires Steve Sadin of WB Games as Head of Gaming Partnerships

Gamers will keep assets from blockchain games “for decades,” and FTX wont support any “pump-and-dump projects,” he told Decrypt. The cryptocurrency exchange FTX is expanding its reach into gaming, adding former WB Games and Sega executive Steve Sadin as head of gaming partnerships. FTX Gaming plans to offer crypto-as-a-service to existing gaming companies, enabling developers to add play-to-earn or NFT features to upcoming games. Sadin comes from a more traditional gaming background—he was vice president of product for Sega before becoming executive director of product for WB Games and later VP and studio head of WB Games in Boston—similar to Ryan Wyatt, the former head of YouTube Gaming who recently left to become CEO of Polygon Studios. “Our primary focus is providing Web3 support for gaming companies,” Sadin told Decrypt via email. “Whether youre a one-person indie or a global developer/publisher with tens of thousands of employees, we want to help enable you to safely and easily build and operate fully compliant crypto games that will be enjoyed for decades.” That said, Sadin also wants FTX Gaming to be selective when choosing partners. “We‘re not here to support any pump-and-dump projects,” he said. “There needs to be a great design, a passion for making [and]

The NFT collection‘s Twitter account shared the information along with an Etherscan transaction link showing that it sent 388.999 ETH (a little over $1 million) after being inspired by its community members’ contributions. NFTs are unique tokens that exist on a blockchain such as Ethereum and signify ownership of an asset. The BAYC was among the first NFT collections to reach a floor price—or minimum “buy-now” price per NFT—of over 50 ETH. Since then, the BAYC has become a cultural symbol in the NFT space, with celebrities like Eminem, Steph Curry, Jimmy Fallon, and many others “aping” into the collection. Currently, the BAYC is the second-largest NFT collection of all time based on marketplace OpenSeas rankings, having registered over 417,000 ETH ($1 billion) in secondary sales. Ethereum Fees Fall To 6-Month Low As NFT Mania Fades

Why are Ethereums gas fees falling? After all, it wasn‘t that long ago that merely approving a transaction on the network cost an arm and a leg, let alone starting to swing your digital scythe in a yield farm. We’re now seeing moves for less than ten dollars. The answer? NFTs. Ethereum Gas Fees Falls Even though the overall crypto market cap dropped early in the year, the market for NFTs—tokens used to prove ownership of other assets—showed no signs of slowing down. In January, OpenSea set yet another sales record, reaching $5 billion in revenue. A slew of celebrities, including Paris Hilton, Eminem, Tom Brady, and a slew of others, joined the fad. Indeed, Ethereum volumes on OpenSea have plummeted during the last few weeks. When you take a step back and look at the relationship, it becomes even more apparent. Volumes on OpenSea dropped from $247 million to $124 million from February 1 to February 6. At the same period, the median gas price fell by half, from 134 gwei to 65 gwei. We can double-check that the USD values in the first chart arent merely due to a decline in the price of Ethereum by looking at the price of ETH at the same time. Recent

Coinbase Blocks 25,000 Accounts Linked to Russia To "Support" Sanctions

Coinbase said it blocked tens of thousands of accounts linked to Russian individuals and entities suspected of “illicit” activity Coinbase has blocked 25,000 wallets addresses linked to what the cryptocurrency exchange believes are Russian individuals and entities engaged in illegal activity. According to a blog post on Monday, Coinbase‘s Chief Legal Officer Paul Grewal said many of the accounts had been identified through the exchange’s own “proactive” investigations. The move is part of a wider response to the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, the exchange said. The addresses have been shared with the US government to “further support sanctions enforcement.” “Sanctions play a vital role in promoting national security and deterring unlawful aggression, and Coinbase fully supports these efforts by government authorities,” the post said. The move comes days after Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong said in a tweet last Wednesday his company didnt think there is a “high risk” of Russian oligarchs using crypto to avoid sanctions. “Because it is an open ledger, trying to sneak lots of money through crypto would be more traceable than using US dollars cash, art, gold, or other assets,” Armstrong said.
