Cardano's Vasil hard fork will take place on September 22nd, according to Charles Hoskinson, the inventor of the Cardano blockchain and a co-founder of the blockchain engineering company Input Output Global, Inc., which is accountable for creating the Cardano blockchain platform. Hoskinson made the announcement on Friday on his YouTube vlog.
The Vasil hard fork, according to Cardano developers, is expected to increase scalability (to increase network capacity), cut transaction fees, diversify the Ethereum rival, and boost the application performance for building smart contracts on Cardano.
The Plutus script, the programming language used to create smart contracts on the Cardano blockchain, would additionally be upgraded as part of the hard fork, according to the developers, who also characterized it as the first significant update, or the Alonzo update.
Hoskinson pondered on the substantial workload needed for the Vasil update and claimed that the team members were “overloaded” with work:

Thus, the Ethereum Merge is expected to take place on September 15, which is just one week after the Vasil hard fork of Cardano. The Ethereum blockchain will transition from the inefficient proof-of-work consensus mechanism to a more effective proof-of-stake system as a result of the Merge update.
