A Visit to Rakuten Wallet in Japan – No Office Found

Reason for this visit

As one of the largest markets around the world, Japan is the first country putting cryptocurrency under regulation. So there are plenty of cryptocurrency exchanges in Japan, as well as many overseas exchanges seeking to access the market. In order to help investors to get a more comprehensive understanding of the country's cryptocurrency exchanges, the survey team will go to Japan for on-site visits to local exchanges.

On-site visit

In this issue, the investigation team went to Tokyo, Japan to visit the cryptocurrency exchange Rakuten Wallet (licensee: Rakuten Wallet, Inc.) as planned according to its regulatory address that Rakuten Crimson House Aoyama, 2-6-21 Minami Aoyama, Minato-ku, Tokyo.

The survey team arrived at the destination on March 2, 2023, where Rakuten Crimson House was situated, but didn’t spot the information about Rakuten Wallet from the company directory of the office building.

After communicating with the related staff in the building, the team knew that Rakuten Wallet might be located at the building. However, more details about the company including merger or restructuring would be access with the permission from the Rakuten Headquaters.

Conclusion

The survey personnel went to Tokyo, Japan to visit the cryptocurrency exchange Rakuten Wallet (licensee: Rakuten Wallet, Inc.) as scheduled, but didn’t find the company’s physical business office at its regulatory address. Investors are advised to make a sensible choice based on a comprehensive consideration.
