For four consecutive weeks – including this frame – Ella Langley‘s “Choosin’ Texas” has controlled the Billboard Hot 100. The breakout smash has now accumulated 14 stays at No. 1, though those turns in the spotlight have been spread across six separate reigns since it first reached the summit in February. A succession of high-profile debuts by acts including BTS, Olivia Rodrigo, Drake, Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift repeatedly interrupted Langleys time in charge, but none of them stopped the biggest song of 2026 for long.
“Choosin Texas” has nevertheless returned to the peak position over and over, and its latest victory moves it higher on the list of the longest-running No. 1 hits in Billboard Hot 100 history.
Ella Langley Reaches 14 Weeks at No. 1
“Choosin‘ Texas” earns its fourteenth week atop the Billboard Hot 100, the ranking that combines streaming activity, radio airplay and sales to determine the most popular songs in the United States. Langley’s hit has ruled for 14 of the 39 frames it has spent on the tally.
Ella Langley Ties Seven Legendary Hits
With 14 weeks at No. 1, “Choosin Texas” ties as the eighth-longest-running champion in the history of the Billboard Hot 100, which dates back into the late 1950s. Langley now shares that position with seven other hits that ended their reigns after exactly the length of time.
The roundup includes Whitney Houston‘s “I Will Always Love You,” Boyz II Men’s “I‘ll Make Love to You,” Los del Río’s “Macarena (Bayside Boys Mix),” Elton John‘s double single “Candle in the Wind 1997”/“Something About the Way You Look Tonight,” Mariah Carey’s “We Belong Together,” the Black Eyed Peas‘ “I Gotta Feeling” and Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars’s “Uptown Funk.”
Ella Langley Could Match Harry Styles Next
“Choosin‘ Texas” looks likely to remain at No. 1 for at least one more frame, if not several. Should the track continue running the show, in a matter of days Langley will match Harry Styles’s “As It Was,” which spent 15 weeks at the summit in 2022.
Another two weeks would lift “Choosin‘ Texas” into the exclusive 16-week club. Morgan Wallen’s “Last Night,” Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber‘s “Despacito,” and Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men’s “One Sweet Day” are all members.
Moving up into the next tier will require another full month in charge as of this period. Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus‘s “Old Town Road” and Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” both accumulated 19 weeks at No. 1. For a time, they jointly claimed the honor of being the longest-running rulers ever, though a holiday staple passed both of them not long ago.
Ella Langley Still Trails Mariah Careys Record
Mariah Careys “All I Want for Christmas Is You” remains the longest-running No. 1 in the decades-long lifespan of the Billboard Hot 100, with 22 cumulative frames at the summit. The seasonal smash adds to that total as it returns to prominence each winter.
“Choosin‘ Texas” is now eight weeks away from matching Carey’s record. Langleys single has already demonstrated unusual resilience, but keeping its control over the roster for another two months is a tall order.
Ella Langley Leads in Both Streams and Sales
“Choosin‘ Texas” is still a formidable hit when it comes to all three metrics used to construct the Billboard Hot 100. The single holds at No. 1 on both the Streaming Songs and Digital Song Sales charts this week. Radio remains the only component Langley has not yet conquered. “Choosin’ Texas” continues to live inside the top five on the Radio Songs chart, but it has yet to reach No. 1 on the all-format airplay ranking.
