Wirex has added Tempo to its platform, giving fintech partners of the stablecoin infrastructure provider a new way to settle enterprise card programs, the company announced on September 10. Fintechs issuing cards through Wirex can now settle transactions on Tempo‘s stablecoin-native network. The live integration lets card issuers select Tempo, a purpose-built blockchain for stablecoin payments incubated by Stripe, as a preferred settlement layer, according to Wirex’s announcement.

A Faster, Private Settlement Rail

Wirex already offers a single integration for regulated card issuance, wallets, compliance, and stablecoin settlement, and it issues cards under its own licences as a principal member of Visa and Mastercard. Tempo adds a network designed specifically for stablecoin payments: transactions finalize in under a second with dedicated capacity and predictable sub-cent fees, while Tempo Zones keep balances and transactions private with selective disclosure for audit and compliance. Network fees are paid in stablecoins instead of a separate gas token, and structured transaction data keeps funds and settlement information on the same rail for simpler reconciliation.

Why Wirex Chose Tempo

Wirex said Tempo offers more than a settlement network. Tempo‘s incubation by Stripe brings payments expertise, and its Stablecoin Advisory and forward-deployed engineers work directly with customers to pick infrastructure partners and move from architecture to production, drawing on Tempo’s work with enterprises including DoorDash, Deel, Klarna, Felix, and ARQ. “It‘s great to offer Tempo as a key settlement layer for enterprise stablecoin card programs integrating with Wirex’s infrastructure,” said Daniel Rowlands, General Manager of Wirex. “As a purpose-built blockchain for stablecoin payments at scale, Tempo gives our partners fast, predictable, and private settlement.”

Stablecoin Cards Keep Gaining Momentum

The move extends Wirex‘s push into stablecoin-backed cards, where it has previously worked with Stellar and Visa on on-chain card settlement and continues to expand stablecoin payments across chains. Wirex’s infrastructure reached $1 billion in annualized onchain volume 131 days after launch and doubled that figure 110 days later. Ani Narayan, GTM at Tempo, said the combination lets companies “launch stablecoin-backed card programs” by pairing Wirex‘s regulated card infrastructure with Tempo’s settlement network and hands-on support. The two companies said they are working together to bring more fintech and enterprise card programs onto the network.
