Bitcoins oil risk stretches into 2027 as IEA cuts supply outlook again

The International Energy Agency has cut its 2026 oil supply forecast and now expects full Gulf supply recovery in 2027, complicating the prospect of energy-driven relief in borrowing costs for Bitcoin investors. Related Asset Bitcoin #1 BTC · $77,211.07 24-hour change: down 0.29% 24H Down 0.29% 7D Down 3.00% 30D Up 23.17% Its Sept. 11 report projects average global supply of 100.7 million barrels a day this year, down from 102 million in the Aug. 12 outlook. The downward revision is 1.3 million barrels a day. Demand is weakening too. The IEA forecasts global oil consumption will fall by 2.5 million barrels a day in 2026 compared with 2025. It puts that contraction at about 940,000 barrels a day deeper than it expected in August. Less consumption could ease pressure on scarce supplies. Yet the agency estimates global observed inventories fell by 95 million barrels in August, indicating that weaker use has not removed physical tightness. There is some relief in flows: the IEA says increased volumes bypassing the Strait of Hormuz and military-escorted shipments through it helped narrow crude export losses. But Gulf refined-product and liquefied petroleum gas exports in August remained nearly 60% below February. Recovery is uneven, and the 2027 timetable remains

Chainflip loses 736,442 USDT in TRON exploit

Chainflip has lost 736,442.17 USDT through six unauthorized payouts after an attacker exploited its handling of TRON transaction memos. Chainflip said in a Sept. 13 incident update that the attack targeted its TRON USDT integration during the early hours of Sept. 12. The cross-chain protocol paused operations while its developers investigated the transactions and prepared a fix. One legitimate user swap worth 115,654.41 USDT remains unpaid. Chainflip said the funds are still held in its vault and can be released after the network restarts. The protocol reported that no other funds were affected. Bitcoin's Price Looks Shaky at $76K, but the Trend Says Otherwise

Bitcoin‘s price is sitting between $76,400 to $76,700 per unit on Sunday morning, which sounds pretty uneventful until you look under the hood. Short-term momentum has gone sour, BTC has been turned away twice from roughly $82,300-$82,800, and several averages immediately overhead are now working against it. Yet zoom out far enough and almost the opposite picture appears. Bitcoin’s price is still trading above nearly every major longer-term moving average. The bears have the short game. The bulls still own much of the long one. Key TakeawaysBitcoin‘s price sits near $76,400 to $76,700 over the last hour after Sept. 12’s wild $79,837-to-$76,040 swing. The daily charts 11 oscillators lean bearish, but 9 of 15 moving averages remain bullish.Bitcoins price needs to reach roughly $78,500 per coin, and losing $76,000 would put lower support in play. 1-Hour Chart Outlook That makes the 1-hour chart a good place to see just how messy things have become. On Sept. 12, bitcoins price shot all the way to $79,837 before getting hammered down to $76,040, a $3,797 trip from top to bottom. Since that shakeout, the fireworks have mostly stopped. BTC has spent its time squeezed between roughly $76,600 and $77,300, with the latest trades around $76,817-$76,819, and Sunday

Chainlink: Grayscale & Bitwise scoop 1.4M tokens, yet LINK slips

Institutional demand around Chainlink strengthened as institutions expanded their $LINK holdings while broader accumulation absorbed available supply. Grayscale extended its accumulation activity after its $GLNK ETF received another 203,810 $LINK worth $2.38 million from Coinbase Prime. Over 18 days, the Grayscale ETF received around 1.05 million $LINK, valued at approximately $12.12 million. These persistent purchases reinforced the institutional demand narrative despite $LINKs recent price retracement. Additionally, Bitwise confirmed the accumulation trend after also purchasing another 163,664 $LINK, worth roughly $1.91 million. Also, the institution remained a consistent buyer during the previous two weeks. The institutions total holdings hit 3.964 million $LINK, with an average acquisition price of roughly $9.96. Therefore, this implies that the accumulation extended beyond a single institutional vehicle, reflecting a broader sustained interest. Reserve growth adds another demand layer The Chainlinks strategic reserve added another 91,100 $LINK, valued at roughly $1.06 million. The purchase increased the 30-day accumulation reserve to 511,000 $LINK, worth approximately $5.52 million. The acquisition brought the total reserve holdings to 5.86 million $LINK, worth nearly $67.24 million. Therefore, this reserve accumulation provided another source of recurring $LINK absorption alongside the institutional purchases. Furthermore, the ETF activity also strengthened the broader demand outlook. Reportedly, Chainlink ETFs attracted $4.27 million in investor capital during

Reform UKs £72M donations face new legal test

Reform UK has received £72 million, approximately $97 million, from crypto billionaires Christopher Harborne and Ben Delo through two matching donations announced within 24 hours. The Guardian reported on Sept. 12 that Harborne gave £36 million to Nigel Farages party one day after Delo announced an equal contribution. Each gift matched the largest individual political donation recorded in the U.K., according to the newspaper. Harborne is an investor in stablecoin issuer Tether and cryptocurrency exchange Bitfinex. Delo co-founded BitMEX, one of the earliest major cryptocurrency derivatives exchanges. Neither donor said the latest money was transferred in cryptocurrency. Reports covering the contributions did not identify their payment method, making the donors industry connections separate from the proposed ban on political donations paid with crypto assets. Tom Lee Says Crypto Will Be “Really Bullish” For the Next 12 Months

Tom Lee says the next 12 months will be “really bullish” for crypto. The Wall Street strategist has reason to hope he is right, because the company he chairs sits about $5 billion underwater. Crypto wallet creators now have just 24 hours to alert regulators when flaws are exploited

Commercial manufacturers whose connected hardware wallets or wallet software meet the European Unions product test must now warn cyber authorities within 24 hours of discovering an actively exploited vulnerability or severe security incident. The requirement took effect Sept. 11, 2026, under the EUs Cyber Resilience Act, or CRA. The European Commissions reporting guidance says the clock applies to manufacturers of products with digital elements. The CRA is a horizontal product law. The Commissions implementation FAQ says it applies to hardware and software made available on the EU market. The legal test also requires the products intended or reasonably foreseeable use to include a direct or indirect data connection to a device or network. A commercially supplied connected hardware wallet or downloadable wallet app can meet that test. However, EU guidance does not name wallet brands or declare every wallet service or project covered. Coverage depends on the specific product, how it is supplied and any applicable exclusion. What manufacturers must report The first filing is an early warning due without undue delay and no later than 24 hours after a manufacturer becomes aware of the vulnerability or incident. It must indicate, where applicable, the member states where the product is known to have been made
