Bitcoin Set For $80K Retest, Options Flash Potential Short Squeeze – Details

The Bitcoin market registered a significant rally in April with prices rising over 14%. In this first month of Q2 2026, the leading cryptocurrency reached a local peak of $79,000 before slipping into its current mini-consolidation. As prices remain range-bound, data from the Bitcoin Options market has highlighted traders expectations, which include a potential short squeeze ahead. Call Positioning Builds At $80K To Create Resistance Zone In an X post on May 1, analytics platform Glassnode shared an insightful update on the Bitcoin options following a general positive performance in April. This month, Glassnode analysts reported that implied volatility notably dropped, with short-term (1W) volatility expectations declining by 16 points and longer-term (6M) volatility declining by 8 points. After Aprils rally, this data largely suggests traders are no longer expecting explosive moves immediately. Bitcoin remains rangebound following Aprils rally and its rejection just below 80K. Heres what Bitcoin options data reveals about positioning, volatility expectations, and market sentiment beneath the surface. pic.twitter.com/iEIskzslZ4 — glassnode (@glassnode) May 1, 2026 Interestingly, the realized volatility confirms this notion, having aligned with the implied volatility trend. A reduced realized volatility is highly important to prevent traders from hedging heavily, thereby reinforcing a self-repeating low volatility cycle. In other developments,

Fed Chair Changes Keep Triggering Bitcoin Crash Cycles

Pattern Meets Policy Uncertainty As of writing, according to CoinMarketcap, the price of Bitcoin is trading at around $78,000 and is relatively stable compared to its performance in previous cycles. But there may be another potential turning point in the market, especially with the Fed changing hands soon. The incoming Fed chair has signaled support for central bank independence and a smaller balance sheet. Still, investors have little clarity on how policy will evolve. That lack of direction comes at a sensitive time for the economy. Inflation has risen to 3.3%, its highest level in two years, driven largely by energy costs. Oil prices climbed above $115 as supply risks intensified. Disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz continue to strain global flows, adding pressure just as the Fed prepares for a leadership transition. The recent surge could not exceed $80,000 as rejection continues for the past few weeks. The momentum has been weakening, and buyers have become more careful. There is also a change in the institutional flow dynamics. The spot ETF inflows had broken records until late April when they

Developer Claims He Can Crack $700 Million Lost Bitcoin Wallet

A developer claims a new CUDA-powered tool can recover 8,999 Bitcoin (BTC) lost in 2010 by a user known as “Stone Man.” The dormant fortune is now worth roughly $688 million. The address has not moved a single satoshi in almost 16 years. A successful recovery would rank among the largest reclaimed Bitcoin holdings ever recorded. How the Stone Man Bitcoin Wallet Was Lost Stone Man bought 9,000 BTC in 2010 and ran an early Bitcoin client (version 0.3.2) from a Linux boot CD. After sending one coin to a personal address, the software automatically generated a “change” address for the remaining 8,999 BTC. Stone Man Bitcoin Wallet. Source: Blockchain.com When the machine shut down, the boot CD wiped the updated wallet.dat file. His backup did not contain the new change address, leaving the fortune stranded at a key he never recorded. The episode, posted on bitcointalk.org under topic 782, remains one of the earliest documented cases of catastrophic key loss. It predates the services now built around wallet rescue. MiCA Decoded: Why the Regulator Sees Your Compliance Team as a Single Brain

MiCA Decoded is a 12-article weekly series for News, co-authored by LegalBisons Co-Founding and Managing Directors: Aaron Glauberman, Viktor Juskin and Sabir Alijev. LegalBison advises and FinTech companies on MiCA licensing, CASP and VASP applications, and regulatory structuring across Europe and beyond. The Myth: Outsourcing a Compliance Officer Is Enough When founders begin planning for crypto-assets services providers (CASP) authorization, the conversation almost always arrives at the same moment: “So, do we need to hire a compliance officer?” Sometimes the question comes with a follow-up: “And a Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO)? Is that it?” The answer to both is yes. But treating those two appointments as the finish line is the most common and consequential misreading of what MiCA actually demands from a compliance function. Regulators are not checking whether the org chart has the right job titles. They are assessing whether the management body, as a whole unit, has the knowledge architecture, the structural independence, and the documented operational depth to run a regulated financial institution. A MiCA license is not issued to a person. It is issued to an organism. This distinction sits at the heart of why so many early-stage applications stall or require significant rework before a National Competent Authority (NCA)

Riot Q1: Data Center Shone with 33.2M$ Revenue

Riot Platforms materialized its move away from Bitcoin mining by reporting 33.2 million dollars in revenue from data center operations in the first quarter. Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) announced in the companys earnings report that it has increased the capacity contract to 50 megawatts, with this development standing out. While total revenue reached 167.2 million dollars, the mining segment declined, and the data center segment supported revenue by 20%. Riot executed sales of 3.778 BTC but continues to hold 15.679 BTC; this asset is worth nearly 1.2 billion dollars at current prices and ranks seventh among public companies. This strategy reflects a shift toward AI infrastructure demand amid declining mining profitability post-halving. Riot Platforms Q1 Revenue Breakdown The companys total revenue of 167.2 million dollars was supported by the rise of the data center. Ethereum Price Prediction: ETH Eyes $3,200 Breakout

Ethereum price is sitting near a major decision area, with charts showing resistance at $2,413 and deeper support near $1,725. A clean breakout from the current trendline zone could shift focus toward $3,200, while rejection would keep ETH inside its wider range. ETH Price Stalls Between $2,413 Resistance and $1,725 Support ETH remains trapped inside a wide decision zone, according to the 2 day ETH/USDT chart shared by EliZ. Price trades near $2,261, while the main resistance sits at $2,413 and the lower support stands near $1,725. ETH Macro Range Chart. Source: The chart shows ETH pressing against a descending trendline after recovering from the lower range. However, price has not confirmed a breakout yet. That keeps ETH inside a messy structure between the red support zone, the trendlines, and the two marked horizontal levels. A clean move above $2,413 would give buyers a stronger signal and could open the way toward higher resistance. However, a rejection from the current area could send ETH back toward the red box and then the $1,725 support zone. For now, the chart shows a range market, not a confirmed trend. ETH Chart Points to Breakout Setup Toward $3,200 Resistance ETH trades near $2,266 while holding above a rising support line,
