DeFi Exploit Wave Worsens With $5.87M At TrustedVolumes Hack And Increased Security Concerns

Finance DeFi Exploit Wave Worsens With $5.87M At TrustedVolumes Hack And Increased Security Concerns The breach is part of a growing list of vulnerabilities afflicting the ecosystem, and adds to the tally as at least five DeFi exploits have been reported this month. Blockchain security firm Blockaid attributed the hack to an attacker who managed to successfully drain 1,291.16 WETH, 206,282 USDT, 16.939 WBTC and 1,268,771 USDC, all transacted on Ethereum network. When news first broke, the scale of the breach was staggering, but even more staggering is that it happened as DeFi protocols are facing increased scrutiny for their security. The attack is said to still be ongoing, which has created an urgency within security teams and the crypto community at large to stop any further losses. As money continues to change hands, investigators have begun tracking on-chain movements in real time. In a troubling turn of events, Blockaid has linked the exploit of TrustedVolumes to the same actor that perpetrated the 1inch Fusion V1 March 2025 Attack. The connection suggests a pattern of serial attacks and raises tantalising questions about how established threat actors continue to exploit vulnerabilities across multiple DeFi underbelly. This attackers return highlights an industry-wide systemic error of insufficient deterrence and improper

1inch Liquidity Provider Trusted Volumes Exploited for $5.87 Million

Tech 1inch Liquidity Provider Trusted Volumes Exploited for $5.87 Million The post 1inch Liquidity Provider Trusted Volumes Exploited for $5.87 Million appeared first on Coinpedia Fintech News Another major DeFi attack has shaken the crypto market. A liquidity provider tied to 1inchs Trusted Volumes system has reportedly been exploited for nearly $5.87 million, with attackers draining millions in WETH, USDT, WBTC, and USDC. More concerningly, blockchain security firms warn that the exploit may still be ongoing, meaning additional losses could still occur. So, how did the exploit happen? How the Trusted Volumes Exploit Happened Security researchers at Blockaid revealed that attackers exploited a vulnerability in the Trusted Volumes resolver contract. This vulnerability allowed them to execute malicious orders directly from users wallets. The attack worked by abusing a public function in the contract. Using this function, the attacker was able to add themselves as an “Allowed Order Signer.” Once they gained this permission, they could use old wallet approvals that users had previously granted to move funds. Blockaids exploit detection system has identified an on-going exploit on TrustedVolumes (1inch market maker / resolver, @trustedvolumes ). KuCoin Rolls Out Global Anti-Phishing Campaign Amid Growing Security Threats

KuCoin has launched its second annual Anti-Phishing Month campaign, rolling out a fresh push to strengthen user protection through education, real-time security tools, and incentive-based learning. The initiative comes as May brings several global cybersecurity awareness observances, giving the crypto exchange a timely platform to reinforce one of the most persistent risks facing digital asset users: phishing. The exchange said the campaign is designed to make security a more active part of the user experience rather than a background feature. In recent years, KuCoin has seen a steady rise in phishing attempts targeting its users. Smishing and email phishing are emerging as the most common attack methods. Together, these forms of fraud account for more than 90% of the incidents the company has tracked. Beyond the immediate financial damage, KuCoin said these attacks can also erode confidence and leave a lasting mark on how users perceive platform safety. That threat landscape is part of what pushed the company to make anti-phishing efforts a more central part of its broader security strategy. With cybersecurity awareness events such as World Information Security Day, World Password Day, and initiatives supported by the International Telecommunication Union taking place in May, KuCoin is using the moment to

CEO positive on regulation amid CLARITY Act debate over stablecoin rules The raise comes as US lawmakers debate how stablecoin rewards should be regulated under the CLARITY Act, a broader digital asset market structure bill that has been delayed partly by disputes over whether crypto firms should be allowed to offer interest-like incentives on stablecoin balances. Sutter expressed optimism over recent progress around the stalled legislation. CLARITY is nearing a Senate Banking Committee vote after a compromise between crypto and banking stakeholders. The deal would allow usage-based
