What would it take to bring Hyperliquid to the US? Former SEC counsel explains

Hyperliquid has faced a potential 10-to-12-month regulatory process to enter the U.S. market even if federal agencies move quickly, according to former SEC senior counsel Ashley Ebersole, after President Donald Trump said regulators were working on a compliant route for the perpetual futures platform. Ashley Ebersole, co-founder and chief legal officer at tx and a former senior counsel at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, told crypto.news that the main obstacle is not simply securing permission for Hyperliquid to operate in the country. U.S. regulators would first have to establish how offshore-style crypto perpetual futures fit within existing securities and derivatives laws. President Donald Trump brought the issue into focus on Aug. 19 during a White House meeting with crypto and financial industry executives. Trump said Commodity Futures Trading Commission Chair Michael Selig was working to bring Hyperliquid into the United States in a “fully compliant and legal fashion.” Contemporary reports did not identify an approval, regulatory structure, or timetable for such a move. The comments came as the administration pressed Congress to advance the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act. As previously covered by crypto.news, Trump used the same Aug. 19 meeting to urge lawmakers to pass the legislation, which would establish clearer

Webot‘s CEO Says Today’s Trading Bot Is Blind. AI Is How It Learns to See

Webot hosted Beyond the Bot: How AI Is Rewiring Automated Trading. Automated trading is already widely used. The discussion was about how far AI should go inside a bot that already runs in the background, and what needs to be in place before it is allowed to do more. Jay Hua, CEO of Webot US and a former vice president at Goldman Sachs, was the main speaker. He was joined by Alevtina Labyuk, chief strategic partnerships officer at BeInCrypto, who previously held marketing roles at companies including Visa; Abay Beyshenkulov, a partner at VComms, a PR firm that works with business and tech companies on media visibility; and Modern Mining, founder of the YouTube channel of the same name, who has run Webot grid bots for about three years. The hour moved in a fairly straight line: first the market, then what AI is actually useful for, then what Webot plans to build. What the market is doing now Modern Mining kept the price discussion grounded. Bitcoin had been stuck for months and then finally moved higher. He did not rule out a short-term pullback, and he also did not sound finished with Bitcoin. Hua went a step further. The market is getting more mature,

How Scrapping Weekly F&O Expiries Could Reshape Retail Trading in India

Retail F&O losses hit ₹91,685 crore in FY26 as 87.7% of traders lost money.About 59% of index-options turnover came from same-day expiry contracts in FY26.CAS turnover hit $4.1B on Aug. 31, nearly 40 times its post-launch average. Scrapping Weekly F&O Expiries would change how Indian retail traders access short-duration derivatives, where activity remains concentrated near expiry. While some market participants have proposed removing weekly contracts, SEBI has neither proposed nor approved such a change. Even so, fewer expiries would materially affect users by changing trading frequency, capital allocation, and execution risk. Weekly Options Concentrate Retail Risk Near Expiry SEBI data show that 59% of index-options turnover in FY26 came from contracts expiring on the same day. Moreover, about 97% occurred within one week of expiry. Therefore, fewer weekly F&O expirations would reduce repeated opportunities to enter contracts approaching settlement and limit recurring events that attract short-term speculation. That concentration becomes more significant when viewed alongside retail trading losses. Active individual derivatives traders fell 18% to 87.5 lakh in FY26, yet their aggregate net losses still reached ₹91,685 crore. In addition, 87.7% of individual traders lost money, while options accounted for about 92% of total losses. Consequently, short-duration derivatives remain a key area of concern in

Crypto market moves ‘as one block’ despite broader rally: Cryptex co-founder

The crypto market has posted sharp gains across Bitcoin and several major altcoins, but Cryptex Finance data covering 36 assets and roughly 92% of the digital asset market shows that capital remains heavily concentrated in Bitcoin and Ethereum despite prices rising across the market. Cryptex Finance co-founder Joe Sticco told crypto.news that participation in the recent rally had spread across the market, but the allocation of capital had not followed at the same pace, leaving cryptocurrencies trading more like a single group than a market in which investors are selecting individual winners. Cryptexs market index stood at 1,199.69, almost 20% above the base level of 1,000 set on Feb. 20. The index tracks 36 assets across five sectors using Coinbase pricing, giving Sticco a larger sample than Bitcoin or a handful of major altcoins alone. Over the trailing seven days, however, the index had risen only 1.92%. Sticco said the figure matters because much of the rally that produced large percentage gains from recent lows took place within roughly 72 hours between Aug. 19 and Aug. 21, followed by several days of relatively flat trading. “Measure from the low, and you get a rally. Measure the trailing week, which is what most readers think

Ripple CTO Emeritus: BIP-110 Vote Loss Doesn't Justify New Chain

The new chain has replaced SHA256d, which is Bitcoins mining algorithm with BLAKE2b under its hard-fork rules. David Schwartz, the Ripple CTO emeritus, argued on August 31 that supporters of Bitcoins BIP-110 fork crossed from governance into an attack after rejecting the soft-fork result and continuing on a separate proof-of-work chain. His exchange with fork supporter loogart captures the dispute: whether losing a consensus fight justifies creating a new Bitcoin chain, or whether that move itself amounts to attacking the network. New Chain Goes Live The account loogart opened the exchange by describing the sequence from the groups perspective: it objected to the direction Bitcoin Core was taking, was told to fork, forked with a different proof-of-work algorithm, and is now building a separate chain, all while still being called an attacker. “You‘re not ’still‘ attacking,” Schwartz wrote in response to loogart’s take. “You switched from participating in governance to attacking when you refused to accept that you lost.” Loogart replied that their group had accepted defeat and continued their version of Bitcoin elsewhere. They argued that open dialogue, a soft fork, and eventually a hard fork cannot amount to an attack because no one was compelled to follow, writing, “Nobody was forced to follow us.” However,
