South Korea speeds up Digital Asset Framework Act for fall passage

South Korea has moved to accelerate work on its Digital Asset Framework Act, with Financial Services Commission Chairman Kim Byoung-hwan saying the government will step up consultations as lawmakers press for the legislation to be completed this fall. News1 reported on Aug. 24 that Kim made the comments during a plenary meeting of the National Assemblys Political Affairs Committee in Yeouido, Seoul, after Democratic Party lawmaker Lee Kang-il questioned when the government would submit its own version of the bill. Kim said officials were preparing the proposal and would move into more intensive consultations, although he did not provide a firm submission date. When Lee asked whether the government could complete its work in time for legislation during the fall session rather than letting the process move into next year, Kim said he would do his best to speed up discussions. The proposed law forms the second phase of South Koreas virtual-asset regulatory framework and is expected to set rules covering stablecoin issuance, virtual asset service providers, disclosures, internal controls and other parts of the domestic crypto market. Digital Asset Framework Act faces pressure for a fall timetable Lee pressed the FSC to move faster, arguing that South Korea risks falling behind other major financial

WikiBit Exchange Exit Risk Ranking Episode 5: Tapbit — A “One MSB Sticker Fits All” Exchange, the Borderless Casino on France’s AMF Blacklist

Introduction: A “Schrödinger‘s Compliance” Exchange In the first four episodes, we investigated HashKey (the compliance top student), HTX (a sanctions hotspot), UZX (a DAO penny-stock style project), and Phemex (a team built by former Morgan Stanley elites). Today’s subject is even more controversial — Tapbit. Its official website describes itself as a “borderless crypto platform,” with a slogan that sounds ambitious. But on the other side, Frances financial regulator AMF has placed Tapbit on its blacklist, while WikiBit rates it 4.98/10, categorizing it as a “high-risk concern.” An exchange that claims trading volumes comparable to major platforms, yet receives only a 4.98 risk score from a compliance evaluation platform? The contrast is more extreme than any exchange we have analyzed before. Today, well dig into Tapbit layer by layer.1. Phantom drops Sui support as the network struggles to regain momentum

On the 24th of September, Phantom will cease its support for the Sui blockchain, providing its customers with a couple of weeks to transfer their $SUI and eliminating a platform that allowed users to enter one of the most talked-about Layer 1 solutions of 2025. As mentioned by the Sui Foundation, when Phantom initiated support for Sui, the wallet boasted of having 15 million active users every month. The announcement comes as Suis price has now sunk much lower than it had been in the past. According to the data from DefiLlama, the amount of money trapped in the blockchain altogether is now $470.38 million, while the $SUI price is around $0.83, with the whole market capitalization of the coin near $3.4 billion. This is a significant decline from over $2 billion in TVL when Phantom introduced Sui and from the all-time high of $5.36, which was recorded back in January 2025. Two ways out before the transition date Phantom is giving holders two options, both detailed in a company help page. The first option is to stay in Phantom and convert. Users are able to convert $SUI into wrapped $SUI on Solana, and Phantom does not charge its own fee for this cross-chain conversion

Anyone holding one of the 21 tokens that Krakenis removing from trading has until 27 August 2026, 14:00 UTCto withdraw them. After that the exchange closes withdrawals, and between 1 and 5 September it sells the remaining balances itself. Bitcoin crash forced Riot to pledge 1,825 BTC, but this huge rally may now free up 1,500 BTC

Riot Platforms entered 2026 with 3,977 $BTC pledged against a $200 million Coinbase loan. Bitcoin then fell far enough that the agreement required another 1,825 $BTC, taking the collateral balance to 5,802 in February. Those coins still belonged to Riot and sat in a segregated custody account under Coinbases lien. Riot couldnt deploy them elsewhere while they protected the loan, so the selloff restricted more of its treasury at the same time its core asset was weak. Now that mechanism is reversing. Bitcoins three-day rally carried it close to $78,000, its highest price in three months. If Riots latest disclosed balance of 5,821 pledged $BTC hasnt moved, the collateral is worth about $454 million, and the loan-to-value ratio has fallen to roughly 44.1%. That level is below the release line in two of the three schedules written into Riots loan. CryptoSlate calculates that the rally could place between 1,159 $BTC and 1,547 $BTC above the amount needed to reset the facility, depending on which schedule applies. The strictest schedule allows no release near $78,000. Riot hasnt disclosed a current release request, and its filings dont establish which schedule Coinbase is using. The calculation shows that Bitcoins price can alter how much of a miners

Riot Platforms Could Reclaim Up to 1,547 BTC From Coinbase Loan Collateral as Bitcoin Rebounds

Riot Platforms, one of the largest U.S. Bitcoin mining companies, may be positioned to recover as much as 1,547 $BTC from additional collateral it posted during a loan agreement with Coinbase, according to a recent analysis. The potential recovery follows a rebound in Bitcoin‘s price, which has improved the loan-to-value ratio of the collateral backing the company’s $200 million credit facility. Background: Riot‘s Collateral Pledge and Bitcoin’s Decline At the start of the year, Riot pledged 3,977 $BTC to secure the loan from Coinbase. As Bitcoin‘s price fell in February, the company deposited an additional 1,825 $BTC, bringing the total pledged collateral to over 5,800 $BTC. The move was designed to maintain the loan’s collateral requirements amid market volatility. Bitcoin‘s recent rebound to approximately $78,000 has raised the value of the pledged collateral, reducing the loan-to-value ratio to about 44%. Based on the loan’s terms, an estimated 1,159 to 1,547 $BTC now exceeds the required collateral level and could be returned to Riot. However, it remains unconfirmed whether Riot has formally requested the return, and the final amount would depend on Coinbases calculation. Implications for Riot and the Mining Sector If Riot reclaims the excess $BTC, it would strengthen the company‘s balance sheet and provide

Ethereum‘s breakout gains credibility – 3 metrics support ETH’s $3K bid

Ethereum [$ETH] reclaimed $2,500 after several days of aggressive bullish momentum, strengthening its short-term market structure. On the 21st of August, the daily candle closed above this key supply zone. That move turned former resistance into an important level for buyers to defend. Meanwhile, stronger U.S. demand, rising Fund Holdings, and lower system-wide leverage supported the breakout. Can these conditions carry Ethereum toward the next psychological level at $3,000? Can Ethereum hold $2,500? Ethereums latest advance pushed its price above $2,500 and all key Exponential Moving Averages. The daily close showed that buyers had absorbed a major layer of overhead selling pressure. Source: TradingView Holding $2,500 could strengthen Ethereums bullish structure and establish a foundation for further gains. However, the breakout needs demand beyond price momentum alone. What is driving Ethereum demand? Ethereums Coinbase Premium Index surged 60%, indicating stronger U.S. buying relative to other markets. Source: CryptoQuant Continued Premium Index growth could confirm that Spot demand supported the rally. On top of that, Fund Holdings reached a weekly high of 5.8 million $ETH. That balance was worth approximately $14.5 billion near the altcoins $2,500 price. Source: CryptoQuant Meanwhile, the MVRV Z-Score stood at -1.012, leaving Ethereum below historically overheated valuation levels. Together, these readings suggested that the rally had institutional demand without an
