Why Is Lighter Up 23% This Week? 2 Catalysts Explain the Move

요약:Lighter's token rose 12.85% as the perp exchange set a November CFTC license filing and Delphi Digital highlighted its model.

Lighter (LIT) climbed 12.85% over the past 24 hours, the biggest gain among the 100 largest cryptocurrencies. That took its seven-day advance to 23.49%, with the token now trading at $3.83.

The broader market fell more than 2% over the same period, and every large-cap token traded in the red. Two developments in two days, one from a research firm and one from Lighter, help explain it.

Delphi Digital published a report on October 20, arguing that speculation is the theme of this decade. It recommends owning the platforms that profit from trading through fees or user distribution, rather than the assets being traded.

Lighter appears in the report next to Robinhood and Hyperliquid (HYPE). Delphi cited its zero fees for retail traders and its distribution through Robinhood Wallet. Since July, the wallet has offered Lighter perpetual futures in selected markets outside the US.

Robinhood also invested in Lighters November 2025 funding round.

“Lighter is the clearest second bet,” the report read.

By the reports DefiLlama figures, Lighter handled about $56 billion in 30-day volume in early October. Hyperliquid led with roughly $203 billion, while Variational and Aster ranked between the two.

Afterward, Lighter added a regulatory catalyst of its own. Founder Vladimir Novakovski said Lighter will apply to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) in November.

The Long Climb Back to $7.86

Traders priced in both the licensing plan and Delphis endorsement this week, lifting LIT by double digits. That gain still leaves the token at less than half its December peak.

LIT set its all-time high of $7.86 on December 30, 2025, the day its airdrop went live. From $3.83, the token would need to gain about 105% to revisit that level.

Two events on Lighters calendar could decide how much of that gap the token closes in the coming months.

The CFTC filing comes first. New supply follows. Team and investor allocations, half of all LIT, begin vesting in late January 2027, per tokenomics data. The first monthly release covers about 13.5 million tokens.

The November filing will show whether those talks become a formal application before new supply arrives.
