Numerous Crypto Exchanges Suffer as a Result of FTX

概要:The cryptocurrency industry is further affected by the FTX cryptocurrency exchange's bankruptcy crash. The latest victim is a subsidiary connected to Huobi.

Hong Kong-listed business New Huo Technology Limited (HKEX: 1611) announced from within knowledge on Monday that approximately $18.1 million worth of digital currencies possessed by its subsidiary Hbit Limited are placed in cryptocurrency exchanges FTX, per the most latest revelation posted on Hong Kong Exchange, going to cite “Failure to withdraw cryptocurrency assets from crypto exchange FTX.”

According to the client's trade request, about $13.2 million of the $18.1 million capital is the “client's asset,” and about USD 4.9 million is the “asset of Hbit Limited.” The listed firm issued a warning that due to FTX's petition for bankruptcy proceedings on November 11 and its subsequent liquidity crisis, the crypto assets “may not be able to be removed from FTX.”

The company's board of directors emphasized that it will keep offering consumers financial services involving virtual assets that are legal, competent, and secure.

“The Board is of the view that the Incident currently does not affect the normal business operations of the Group. As Hbit Limited is legally and operationally separated from other business entities of the Group, other assets and business lines of the Group will not be affected.”

The Board stated that if “the incident is not solved,” it could have an impact on the company's financial performance.

AAX, a different Hong Kong-based cryptocurrency exchange, is also struggling as a result of the recent unrest. The exchanges will remain to suspend transfers for seven to ten days owing to “a scheduled system upgrade,” according to AAX, in order to safeguard users against fraudulent assaults.

This is “poor timing for scheduled maintenance at @AAXExcahnge,” AAX Vice President Ben Caselin wrote early monday. He added that the exchanges “aimed to fix major vulnerabilities, to be delayed for more than 24 hours.” The audience is asked to give AAX time to progressively open up as an extra measure of safety.

The exchange's digital tokens are still intact, with a sizable portion being kept in cold wallets, although AAX reiterated that it has no risk to FTX or its subsidiaries.

Last Friday, FTX filed for bankruptcy as its exchange faced a severe liquidity shortage and its native token, FTT, saw a sharp price decline. FTX was unable to be saved by acquisition from its main rival Binance because “the challenges are beyond our control or ability to help,” according to the company.

According to reports, FTX was charged with illegally diverting client funds to support its subsidiary business Alameda Research. The previous Friday saw a hacking event at FTX as well. The cryptocurrency wallets of the company lost almost $600 million. Former CEO and founder Sam Bankman-Fried has resigned.
