Cambridge AltFin Study Shows Ethereum Significantly Reduces Energy Usage

The study shows a 99.9% reduction in energy consumption since Ethereum switched to PoS. Ethereums annual energy consumption is now only enough to power The University of Cambridge for 16 days. Ethereum‘s transition from Proof-of-Work (PoW) to Proof-of-Stake (PoS) has proven to be a resounding success, with a Cambridge Alt Fin study showing a 99.9% reduction in energy consumption. This milestone has garnered attention from industry leaders. Including Binance’s CEO, who has pinuri Ethereum‘s efforts to create a more sustainable future for cryptocurrencies. In this article, we’ll explore the implications of this study and how it could pave the way for more energy-efficient blockchain networks. Reducing Energy Consumption: Ethereums Successful Transition to Proof-of-Stake According to data from Cambridge University‘s Centre for Alternative Finance (CCAF), Ethereum had been consuming increasing amounts of energy since its launch until the “Merge” took place in September 2022. By then, its total energy consumption had reached 58.26 Terawatt hours (TWh). That equivalent to Switzerland’s annual electricity consumption during that period. However, CCAF‘s latest estimates reveal that this amount has now drastically decreased to just 6.6 gigawatt hours (GWh), comparable to the electricity used by 2,000 typical UK homes. This is a stark contrast to Bitcoin’s energy usage, which amounted to

Ethereum- a Guide to a Leading Global Currency Facilitating DApps and Transactions

Ethereum is a blockchain based (DeFi) platform with smart contract functionality. Ether is the local cryptocurrency of the platform. Among cryptocurrencies, it is second only to Bitcoin in terms of market backing. The recent Shanghai Upgrade made several developments regarding stakeholders. Ethereum is a digital currency where anything you own can be constituted, exchanged, and put to use as non-fungible tokens (NFTs). To gain Ethereum services you just need a wallet, and the best thing is that it works without any personal information. ETH facilitates storage of digital money, global payments and applications. The smart contract functionality is helpful in giving immediate outcomes, thus saving time. Ethereum History and Interesting Information Ethereum was first conceived in 2013 by Vitalik Buterin. Buterin is the founder as well as a programmer of Bitcoin Magazine which describes a way to build decentralized finance. He proposed the development of a new platform with a more advanced scripting language that would in due course become Ethereum. Ethereum was announced at the North American Bitcoin Conference in Miami in January 2014, revealing an important Swiss non-profitable foundation, The ETH Foundation. There, several prototypes of ETH were developed over 18 months in 2014 and 2015. Since Ethereums launch, it has gained a number

Solana Surpasses Ethereum In Most On-Chain Active Addresses ⋆ ZyCrypto

Solana, one of the largest “Ethereum Killers”, has surpassed the latter to become the network with the most transactions. On Wednesday, Nansen shared a tiririt comparing Aprils most active on-chain addresses. According to the firm, Solana came in second after BNB Chain, becoming the network with the most active address by chain at 5.1 million in April. And despite that figure dropping by around 12% from March, the cryptocurrency network still managed to outdo Ethereum, which had 4.9 million active addresses in April. Solana also surpassed Ethereum by non-vote transactions last month. Non-vote transactions are transactions that do not involve any voting or decision-making by token holders. They typically involve the transfer of cryptocurrency between wallets or accounts and are the most common type of transaction on most blockchain networks due to their simplicity. According to Nansen data, as of April 30, Solana‘s total non-vote transactions stood at 24.3 million compared to Ethereum’s 974,972. Solana‘s attractive growth can be attributed to various factors, including a surge in developers and users due to its attractive transaction speeds and costs. Apart from announcing various developments that go into improving the network, including a Chat GPT plugin and a web3 phone, Solana’s ballooning transactions have also been

Could Underwater ETH Stakers Become a Threat to Crypto Market

crypto Ethereum Maaaring Maging Banta sa Crypto Market ang Underwater ETH Stakers 11 minuto ang nakalipas Balita ng Ethereum ng Bitcoin As more Ethereum (ETH) gets staked, there are growing concerns In the community that in-loss stakers could induce price volatility for the second-largest crypto network. The Ethereum Merge upgrade was one of the most significant events that have occurred in the crypto industry. The upgrade set out to address critical Ethereum network issues such as scalability, security, and high fees. It also introduced several new features, such as staking and sharding, enabling the network to process more transactions per second. Benefits of Ethereum Shift to Proof of Stake The Ethereum Merge upgrade involved transitioning from a proof of work (PoW) consensus algorithm to a proof of stake (PoS). This transition was implemented in several phases, with the first phase, known as the Beacon Chain, launched in December 2020. The Beacon Chain was essentially a new blockchain that ran parallel to the primary Ethereum blockchain at the time and was responsible for managing the PoS consensus algorithm. One of the main benefits of the PoS consensus algorithm is that it requires validators to stake a certain amount of ETH to participate in the consensus process. Validators are rewarded

Ethereum Market Shows Signs Of Overheating, Decline Soon?

On-chain data shows the Ethereum failed transaction count has shot up recently, a sign that the ETH market may be overheating right now. Ethereum Network Is Observing A Surge In Transactions Currently As pointed out by an analyst in a CryptoQuant post, whenever the failed transaction count of the coin breaks the 200,000 mark, its usually a hint of overheating in the market. In periods where the activity of the Ethereum blockchain is high, that is, a large number of transactions are taking place simultaneously, the gas fees on the network can sharply go up. This happens because the network can only handle so many transfers at once, so the gas price has to go up if there is too much demand to confirm moves on the blockchain. During such periods of high gas prices, if investors attach a low amount of gas with their transactions, the transfer can end up failing if the fees happen to be lower than what the network requires at that specific moment. The “failed transaction count” is an indicator that measures the total number of such Ethereum transfers that fail to go through. As the appearance of failed transactions can have a direct relationship with the demand that the network

Bitcoin rebounded from Tuesday‘s losses, as all focus in the market turned to today’s United States Federal Reserve rate decision. It is widely expected that the Fed will hike rates by 25 basis points in Mays meeting. Ethereum also moved higher, nearing $1,900 in the process. Bitcoin Bitcoin (BTC) rebounded on Wednesday, as all focus in the market turned to todays Federal Reserve rate decision . Following a low of $27,935.73 on Tuesday, BTC/USD surged to an intraday high of $28,881.30 earlier in the day. This came as after bitcoin rejected a breakout below its long-term floor at $27,600 to start the week. Overall, momentum has shifted marginally higher, as the 10-day (red) moving average approached its 25-day (blue) counterpart. Should this upwards crossover occur, this could be a signal that bulls need to intensify pressure, and potentially take BTC back above $30,000. In order for this to occur, the relative strength index (RSI) will first need to surge past a ceiling at the 52.00 mark. Ethereum In addition to BTC, ethereum (ETH) also bounced back on hump-day, as bulls began to reenter the market. ETH/USD rose to a peak of 1,879.76 on Wednesday, after almost falling below $1,800 the day prior. The move saw ethereum bulls briefly push price above

This is not another financial crisis

Famed financier and healthcare expert Michael Milken doesnt think the US is trapped in a banking crisis, but the turmoil does offer an important lesson for investors, management teams, and regulators. “This is not the 1980s, it‘s not the 1970s, it’s not the Great Financial Crisis,” Milken told Yahoo Finance Live at the 2023 Milken Institute Global Conference (video above). “But its a lesson again that we need to match those that buy long-term assets with those that have long-term liabilities like pension funds, insurance companies. And that our financial institutions cannot run a mismatched book of short-term liabilities and long-term assets.” Others in the banking space seemed to have forgotten that playbook. Regulators seized regional bank First Republic (FRC) early on Monday and sold a majority of the banks operations to JPMorgan (JPM) in the largest bank failure since the 2008 financial crisis. For JPMorgan, the crisis purchase is nothing new: The bank purchased Washington Mutual and Bear Stearns at the height of the Great Financial Crisis more than a decade ago at firesale prices. Sumang-ayon ang JPMorgan na kunin ang $173 bilyon na mga asset, $30 bilyon sa mga securities, at lahat ng $92 bilyong deposito ng First Republic. The deal is expected to
