According to the exchange, the SEC’s authority should be confined to securities transactions, which involve contractual claims related to the future income, profits, or assets of a business enterprise. Coinbase asserts that the SEC‘s complaint fails to establish that the asset trades it identifies involve ongoing contractual obligations related to a business enterprise, thereby concluding that the SEC’s claims are unfounded.
