Intel Launches Blockscale ASIC Mining Chip

Intel, the tech industrys largest semiconductor chip manufacturer by revenue, has launched a new application specific integrated circuity (ASIC) designed for mining proof-of-work blockchains that use SHA-256 encryption such as Bitcoin and Ethereum. Officially named as Blockscale, the new mining chip is reportedly designed for energy-efficient blockchain hashing. Based on Intels official press release for the product launch, the Blockscale ASIC mining chip has a hash rate of up to 580 gigahash per second, which when converted amounts up to 0.58 terahash per second (TH/s). The energy-efficient chip features a thermal power design that consumes up between 4.8 to 22.7 watts of power based on configuration. The energy efficiency for Blockscale is rated at 26 joules per terahash (J/TH). The Blockscale ASIC mining chip series is designed with combinatory stacking, allowing miners to stack up on the chips and daisy-chain these circuits into one mining rig. Up to 256 integrated circuits can be stacked into one chain, according to Intel. “Intel is committed to advancing blockchain technology in a responsible way, and were proud to collaborate with and provide solutions to companies that are creating a more sustainable cryptocurrency ecosystem globally. All You Need to Know Before Investing in Cryptocurrencies

Cryptocurrency is a form of digital currency that exists only on the internet. Unless you utilize a service that allows you to exchange cryptocurrencies for a physical token, there is no actual coin or bill. Are you perplexed by cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin and Ethereum? Youre not the only one who feels this way. It is best to understand how it differs from other methods, as well as how to avoid cryptocurrency scams before you make an investment. How is cryptocurrency different? Unlike fiat currencies and other investment options, cryptocurrency accounts are not guaranteed by the government. This means, if you keep bitcoin with a third-party firm and it goes out of business or is hacked, you are not going to get any help or assistance from the government to get your investment back. Another major factor that is also important to note with cryptocurrencies is that their value can fluctuate dramatically, even hourly. Many variables influence this, including supply and demand. A thousand-dollar investment now might be worth only a few hundred dollars tomorrow. And theres no assurance that the value will rise again if it falls. One factor that had driven the popularity of cryptocurrencies and Bitcoin, in particular, is that

Shopify Facing Another Lawsuit From Crypto Holders Over Ledger Data Breach

The e-commerce giant is in the hot seat again for its alleged role in making the hacked Ledger user data available to malicious actors. Global e-commerce platform Shopify and hardware wallet maker Ledger face a major legal hurdle as a group of Ledger users have filed a class-action lawsuit for its part in failing to prevent a massive data breach in 2020. The suit was filed in the U.S. District Court of Delaware on Apr. 1 and alleges that Shopify “repeatedly and profoundly failed to protect its customers identities.” Shopify and its third-party data consultant TaskUs are being held responsible by complainants for leaking personally identifiable information (PII) of Ledger buyers despite marketing promises assuring the full security of the Shopify platform. The plaintiffs claim Shopify and TaskUs were aware of the data breach for over a week before notifying customers. They are asking for the exact type of information leaked to be disclosed by Ledger and Shopify and for a monetary reward that covers actual and punitive damages. France-based Ledger is also included as a defendant in the case for its marketing claims promising customer security. The complaint states that Ledger “initially denied that any compromise of PII had occurred,” but later had to

Only 2 Million Bitcoin Left to be Mined Within a Projected Timeline of 118yrs

The Bitcoin (BTC) network has continued to grow in all metrics, particularly in its mining industry. For a coin that was launched back in 2009, a total of 19 million of the total 21 million of the coins maximum supply has been mined, leaving barely 2 million before the generation of Bitcoin ceases for good. Herein lies the twist, while it took the past 13 years to mine the 19 million BTC on record, the remaining two million are not expected to be mined until at least the next 118 years. This is based on the original protocol design by Satoshi Nakamoto, the pseudonymous developer known as the founder of the BTC network. Per the widespread projections, the last bit of Bitcoins is not going to be mined until February 2140, a time when so many things are billed to change in the BTC network. One of these is the scarcity of digital currency, which will undoubtedly change the entire economics of the network. The Deal for Miners In the continuous depletion of the Bitcoin supply, a lot of focus has been on the miners or validators in the network, who are those who stand to benefit directly or become impacted by the
