Vitalik Buterin reveals exciting use cases for Ethereum ecosystem

Vitalik Buterin reveals exciting use cases for Ethereum ecosystem WikiBit 2022-12-06 14:31

Vitalik Buterin recently discussed the current Ethereum ecosystem, which includes money, DeFi, DAOs, and more.

Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, published a blog post illustrating application scenarios that excite him about the Ethereum ecosystem. The article examined money, DeFi, digital identification, DAOs, and hybrid apps to demonstrate the breadth of utility available on the Turing complete blockchain network.

On money

Among the Ethereum ecosystem apps he prefers are those with a money use case. According to Vitalik, these apps facilitate donations and, in most circumstances, provide protection from de-platforming.

The Ethereum co-founder also discussed stablecoins, claiming that they have various applications because they are open to anybody, immune to censorship, and interact effectively with on-chain infrastructure such as DEXes. In comparison, he maintains that stablecoins like USDC work and that their stability is predicated on the United States' macroeconomic and political stability.

Buterin also believes that the non-pegged stablecoin RAI, which has a negative interest rate, can weather all of these threats. Furthermore, Vitalik argued that stablecoins backed by DAO-governed Risk Weighted Assets (RWA) could be viable if they combine scalability, robustness, and economic practicality while resisting censorship.

On DeFi and Digital Identity

The co-founder revealed that the realm of DeFi and Digital Identity has seen widespread adoption over time. He highlighted prediction markets, major stock indexes, and layers for efficiently trading other assets and real estate, in addition to stablecoins.

The co-founder praised the expansion of digital identity, saying it serves to facilitate user privacy. He mentioned Sign In With Ethereum (SIWE) as a viable identity technique.

On DAOs

According to Vitalik Buterin, there are two questions to be answered.

  • What types of governance structures are appropriate, and for what use cases?

  • Is it better to put those mechanisms in place as a DAO or through traditional incorporation and legal contracts?

  • Decentralization, according to the Ethereum co-founder, is critical for resilience, efficiency, and

    On Hybrid Apps

Voting, games, government registrations, corporate accounting, and supply chain management are examples of hybrid applications that connect blockchains with other systems to reinforce trust models.

Buterin also discussed various Ethereum issues, including scalability, slow transaction times, and dangerous wallets. He talked about decentralized fund holding solutions, ERC-4337 and account abstraction wallets, and Rollup technology to boost scalability.

Meanwhile, in a final statement, Buterin emphasized the need of developers prioritizing projects with long-term value propositions over those with short-term revenues.

These disclosures came just a few weeks after he updated the Ethereum ecosystem's roadmap.

Notably, the network's roadmap improvements are aimed at improving the Ethereum network's censorship resistance and decentralization. For example, a new category, Scourge, was introduced to the updated roadmap, adding existing categories such as Merge, Surge,
